First trade is terrible for Toronto. Getting rid of Muzzin would cost a 1st round pick, but he has a NTC. Mrazek would also cost a lot to get rid of.

I mean I wouldn’t retain on Brown. But if I couldn’t sign either of those two to extensions it would make sense.

You guys can’t trade a defenseman though. Also Brown may be more valuable as a trade chip at the deadline.

Dubas set ten million dollars on fire when he signed Muzzin and Brodie. They overpaid and gave them full NTC’s. I’m sure Dubas learned how to overpay guys from Lou. Everyone knows guys hit their prime in their mid thirties to late forties. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Yes but it’s very hard to believe he could go from being an elite defensive defenseman to a liability. He was injured for a lot of the season anyways.

Brodie had been a steal. Great signing. He’s been a top pairing defenseman for his time in Toronto. I’d happily pay him an extra million.

Brodie is fine it’s more about the NTC with and the cap issues they already had when they signed him.

Brodie is fine but I wouldn’t pay him that money if I had Marner Mathews Tavares and Nylander on my books. Muzzin’s injury history seems like it’s killed his career. Also he’s in his mid thirties. Hard pass.

I would trade Nylander ages before Brodie. Brodie is more valuable to the leafs because they don’t have anyone like him, whereas they have plenty of Nylander type players.

I don’t disagree. But you guys would be better off with Dermott and Durzi than you are with Muzzin and Brodie. Again I think Isles and Leafs fans have a lot of common ground because both of our GM’s do stupid sh*t all the time lol.

You can’t trade young defenseman like Durzi or Toews tho lol. The Isles mistake being far worse than Toronto’s ofc.

A whole year of discount Brown is worth more than a 2mo of Brown.

Are you honestly trying to tell me that Dermott and Durzi are better than Muzzin and Brodie? Because no, I'd take Muzzin Brodie 11 times out of 10.

Durzi is very good. Also I meant based on age/price as well. Also Durzi is a righty which is always helpful.

I suppose you could argue that they will be better 5 years down the road but that's about it. Muzzin and Brodie are significantly better right now. And Brodie plays right side anyways.

Muzzin hasn’t been good dude. It sucks because it’s a concussion issue but still.

I realize that, but Dermott hasn't been any better (unless he's been better in Vancouver than he was in Toronto).

Really?

Connor Brown and Artem Zub are both pretty good

Nylander has been at his best the last 3 seasons and he has 169 pts

Connor Brown has 115 pts during that period while being a 2-way beast massively deployed defensively and on the PK.

Connor has 87 EVP while William had 113 EVP, 26 more pts at even strength in 3 seasons...

44 more points in 3 seasons... not as good defensively.. How much is that worth?

Because 26 y/o Top-4 RHD Artem Zub and an EARLY 2nd round pick is pretty good value...
