That's the biggest issue with trading Dumba. Unless an extension is agreed to prior, the only teams interested in a $6m rental defenseman are largely going to be contenders at the deadline which doesn't help the Wild shed cap to try to keep Fiala. Maybe they find a middle man team like Arizona to retain 50% and drop him down to $3m, that's really the only way I could see a contender taking Dumba this summer.

At the very least for the Canes, we need that money for resigning key players. The only RD the Canes could improve upon would be Bear, and he has been great all season.
