Description
Not a ton of marquee moves for Buffalo, but just the right ones to keep the team competitive.

Starting on the back end, if Buffalo is going to make a commitment to U-PL, they need to get him a mentor that can not only mentor, but play 20-25 games AND eat cap space. Holtby is a no-brainer that satisfies everything Buffalo is looking for.

On defense, Buffalo introduces Owen Power to the National Hockey League and brings back Zadorov as a defensive-minded pairing partner to give Power an opportunity to hone his offensive skills while having a safety net if something gets behind him. Bryson is back as a bottom pairing defenseman that can easily be a PP2 guy if they need him to be.

Olofsson and Hinostroza are back in the fold, Jack Quinn becomes a full-time member, and Buffalo makes a play for Andrew Copp to not only help on the wing, but help in the face-off circle to boot. Plus Copp helps them just squeak above the cap floor and be compliant for the season.

I think you'll regret that Zadorov signing. He's physical for sure, but he needs to be pair with another veteran because he is likely the slowest guy in the entire NHL.

I could honestly see him and Krebs toggling in and out of the lineup next year. Neither are there just yet.

Jesus. What's Rochester going to look like next year in this scenario?

Sabres prospects and AHL lifers? Who cares for the most part? JJP has earned at least a few games

Five left-handers D can be a problem, it's probably better to find a right-hander.

Likely Portillo and an AHL vet in goal. Guys like Laaksonen, Fitzgerald, Prow, and Johnson on D. The forward group would have Ruots, Biro, Weissbach, Murray, Rousek, and maybe Cederqvist as prospects. Add guys like Malone, Mersch, MacInnis etc and you have a solid team even without Peterka

Sabres roster is a bit more important dude
That said….
Peterka starting in the AHL next year isn’t the end of the world
Injuries happen, he’ll get call-ups

Your lineup looks pretty solid to me
AND realistic

I’d like a better partner for Power,
but nice job overall

Peterka can start in the AHL to bring in a guy the quality of Copp
He’s a good player that’ll help
Peterka will get callups, injuries happen

Asplund is decent,
but if Vinny is brought back as expected,
then it does likely leave him fighting for playing time
And that’s not the end of the world either

Asplund will have a roster spot. Copp is not a needed signing with all the forwards the sabres have currently. Need more help on D

Asplund IS on this roster dude
And Copp is better than him- unquestionably better

And bringing in Copp doesn’t mean we can’t make moves on defense as well

He means in the lineup, not a healthy scratch.

Then i guess he should learn to communicate better, lol
And Asplund isn’t so good that he automatically gets a roster spot
If we bring in better players, then he’s gonna have to fight for his icetime
And that’s the way it should be

I am sure Karmanos will fill the Rochester line up with a proper mix of vets and prospects to get it to the playoffs.
Rosen may need to bulk up a little, he seems to be undersized to compete against older players.
They need some right handed forwards.
Maybe they make a pitch to Poturalski, he was born in Williamsville.
Mersch-Ruotsalainen-Poturalski would be a really good AHL top line

Rosen is 2-3 years away from AHL time imo. He's still very skinny and has not had much success in the SHL yet. No rush with him, we got 2 NHL ready wingers in Quinn and Peterka in the pipeline, its not like we are starving for players to bring to NA.

Yes I was agreeing with your statement, I hope the Sabres organization recognizes this and doesn't try rushing him
