offseason shape up

Créé par: ran678690
Équipe: 2022-23 Oilers d'Edmonton
Date de création initiale: 28 mars 2022

Description
oilers need to add some grit, some defensive players, LEHKONEN type guys. they have great key pieces, arguably the two best players in the world, but its time to surround them with the right pieces, as well as a goalie. They need to clear cap to do all this tho. Forsberg gives them a good defensive player who still puts up amazing numbers, similar to a landeskog, maybe even better, great fit imo.

A 20 man roster, 2m over the cap, isn't a good thought.
Gibson doesn't waive for Edmonton

OTT declines. Nothing against Foegele, but he's just a needed piece. Ottawa wants to add a top 6 winger and the trickle down of that will mean we aren't looking to acquire any bottom 6 guys.

Keith requested out of Chicago so he could be closer to his kid, so why would Keith waive. BTW Blackhawks rejects this

No, that's your job as ACGM. Making a 22 man roster under the cap. Those Forsberg and Chariot seems have to much term. Maybe you could sign one and be under the cap, if you fortunate enough to offload Keith and Kassian.

Unless most specifically smith has reoccurring issues like Saturday and forces Holland hand I don’t see swinging big for a goalie. I know most fans want that but I don’t see it. I do like some of the decisions or targets you did choose threw free agency but resigning jp should be a high priority then see what can do.

That's a lot to give up for Gibson on the hope that he can play at a level he hasn't seen in over 4 years. IMO you're just trading a great young player for an overpaid, underperforming goalie.

It's a bad move.

Even if Foegele is not needed, I'd do it because I think he is worth more than that

Pick him up to add him to a trade? SURE. But that feels like too much "thinking" for Ottawa.

You mean "asset management"?

Yeah it seems pretty clear that Dorion has no idea what it is.

Ex : I have been loudly clamoring to trade Chris freaking Tierney when he had Lehkonen value in the summer 2019. We kept him for no reason, his play regressed and now he's about to leave as an UFA for nada.

Don't start me on Anthony Duclair, Rudolfs Balcers, Logan Brown, Erik Brannstrom, Mark Stone, Mike Hoffman, etc.
