It sure Roy’s value so let me know if a pick needs to go in the deal either way. The kings have a ton of RD prospects so the thought is that this opens a spot for them,

Would throwing in Florida’s first make it work?

Monahan is definitely a Cap dump
He was a healthy scratch the other night
CGY probably has to py to get rid of him at this point

Kings fans seem to think very highly of Roy & expect to get a lot for him in a trade
I’m not sure they will, but that’s what they’ll tell ya

If you’re gonna give all that up for Keller, I’d at least call Chicago first & see if a similar package could get DeBrincat

I like the Holtby idea
Think he’ll get similar offers from better teams though
We’ll probably have to offer him $5mil or more to actually get him- just a guess though

I don't see them moving him at all. He's still young and tbh really underrated. Tocchett and now rebuilding have really made his production look significantly lower than what it would on a team like Florida or Colorado for example. Look at the boost Reinhart got, career 60 point player to a PPG. Keller is near a PPG on a dumpster fire, he could possibly be a 90 point player on a contender

Its not that Roy for Olofsson isnt a good basis for a trade value wise. Its just the Kings have so many assets and not enough roster space. They can afford to trade Roy, a first round pick or two, another roster player like Iafallo or Grundstrom, and 2-3 A and B prospects for a star player. I think Olofsson would do well on the Kings but they need to bring in a game changing talent with the assets and cap space they are going to have.

No, we're not exchanging our #2RD for a third-line forward, which is where he would play with the Kings (behind Arvidsson, Iafallo, Kempe and Moore, and competing for playing time with Grundstrom, Kaliyev and Turcotte). Olofsson is a third-liner even on your team, where he is seventh in time-on-ice among your forwards. And he's also easily your worst forward defensively, whereas our entire offensive system is built around being defensively responsible.

I'll copy and paste my response that I had for another Buffalo fan that attempted a Roy trade.

"Roy won't really be available until Brock Faber is ready to make the jump to the NHL, which is likely a year or two away. Calling Roy a "middle-pairing" D-man is disingenuous, though. Out of the entire league there are maybe 5 defenders that wouldn't be a "middle-pairing" Dman behind Drew Doughty. In a Buffalo example, it would be similar to calling whichever of Power or Dahlin ends up on the second pair a "middle-pairing" defenseman. As stated above, Roy is by far the Kings best defensive defenseman. He just happens to play behind Drew because it's, you know, Drew Doughty.

Speaking of just overall worth, and an amount that would make LA actually think about moving Roy early, you'd likely need to look at the LA to Toronto Muzzin deal as a basis. That means a 1st (not saying Buffalo's specifically, obviously that has more worth that what Toronto 1st was at the time. Vegas's 1st would probably be necessary with what Buffalo has to offer), a highly regarded prospect but not your top one (think akin to Rosen or UPL, and the Kings would likely push for Peterka. I could also agree that the Kings would have interest in Johnson), and another B-/C+ prospect.

The fact of the matter is that Roy automatically becomes your #1RD, 25 minute a night guy that PKs and allows Dahlin to do what he does best. That's how good Roy is. In addition, he's signed on an unbelievable contract for two more years after this one. He wouldn't come cheap for anyone. Certainly not two seconds in a draft that is a year out In the case of this post, not just for Olofsson. It would need to be an offer of substance. And it would need to be an offer that helped the Kings either:

1) Get better now, because they are attempting to come out of the rebuild.
2) Address the sorely needed spots in the pipeline immediately, not through future draft picks. IE: Scoring Winger, LD with 1st/2nd pair upside, or goalie with starter potential

Hope that helps."

Specifically for this post, Olofsson MIGHT address one piece of a potential trade with LA. But he certainly doesn't fit the bill for the rest of a necessary package to entice LA to move Roy any time before they need to.

I don't think they should trade for Keller. Sean Avery says he isn't very good.
