Description
I have been hard on Marner after the playoffs, but he is someone the Leafs can't move (especially with the line of Bunting - Matthews - Marner). If the Leafs lost in the first round, I would move Nylander

I can't see the Leafs being able to move that much cap without getting similar cap back in return.

A 25 year old on pace for 76 points in exchange for a pick and two prospects who have a chance of not being anything in the NHL is bad? It's a fair deal

A probable top-10 pick, a forward who can easily be a 30+ goal scorer, and our top prospect in the system for a guy 2 years from UFA? Yes.

Nothing has shown he can be a 30+ goal scorer, two 21 point seasons doesn't scream anything exciting with Wahlstrom. Ratu is a good prospect but what is his chance of making the NHL? I'm sure the Leafs can get more, but it's the idea of sending a message that no one is safe on the team

Raty has an incredibly high chance of making the NHL. Once considered the #1 prospect in his draft. Cory Pronman projects him as a 2nd line center

Knies isn’t being compared to Wahlstrom.

This is how I see it:

Sandin=Wahlstrom
Knies=Raty

If you want to be picky, you might say that the isles guys are a bit better, slightly.

Nylander>>Bailey.

So this is how i saw it
Raty > knies by every single metric. Nothing against knies but raty is the steal of the draft.
Wahlstrom > sandin somewhat hard to compare F to D but ill say this much, wahlstrom playing a checking line role and with much worse linemates has better expected offensive numbers than willy. Not saying hes better or anything but hes also just 21yo with very nice offensive numbers playing for trotz.
NYI 1st > TOR 1st this is pretty obvious i see something like pick 10 for NYI and pick 23-26 for TOR.
Bailey <<< nylander no argument here from me. My comparison was on a lower level but the point was it was showing just how much was being given up in comparison to what was coming back.

Edit: just went back and looked at sandins numbers and theyre really good. Id say its a wash between him and wahlstrom.

I suppose the Knies vs Raty discussion depends on what you think of the NCAA vs Liiga. Knies has better point stats. Can’t speak for either ones 2 way game, but Knies is more physical. I would say the Liiga is a better league, and Raty probably has better potential so I’ll give you Raty over Knies but I think it’s closer than you think.

And yes, I overlooked the fact that NYI 1st>Toronto first.

As for the comparison, all good. Sometimes using Hyperbole is the best way to prove a point awesome face

I relied on stats like NHLe for the raty knies comparison. Regular stats are pretty much impossible to compare from league to league. Theyll both be good players and maybe i am overrating the difference between them.
Also just fyi they have similar point stats. Both just under a ppg (knies 28gp 27p raty 36gp 33p)

Raty is better than Knies? Raty would be in the olympics but never got the call up, but you know who did? Knies

So youre judging how good a player is by an olympic call thats f*cked up. How about the fact that raty has a better NHLe? How about the fact that they have similar point totals but raty is doing it in liiga against men and knies is doing it in college? Every single metric has raty better than knies but keep judging players based on olympics 🤡🤡🤡

Its a stat that converts play from other leagues to NHL expected points. Taking into account strength of the league and all that.

Show those metrics to prove that "Raty is better than Knies", I know who I will take. Raty was a steal in the draft for the Islanders, so was Knies, we should both be happy

Ok sure no problem this season
Raty has scored an NHL equivalent 14.553 points in 36 games for a .40425 NHLe p/g.
Knies has scored an NHL equivalent 5.238 points in 28 games for a .18707 NHLe p/g.
Idk if these numbers include todays game where raty had an assist.
I used patrick bacons (topdownhockey) model to get these numbers.
