his term is exactly the reason they're not going to want to give up anything for him, much less a first. that team is going to cap hell next season ($12.7M in dead cap for the Parise/Suter buyouts) and wants to re-sign Kevin Fiala. They've got ~$10M in cap space next year to do that and fill out the other holes in their roster. Kerfoot is too expensive for them.

What stats are you looking at? Just glimpsed at Natural stat trick and his CF% and xGF% are almost exactly at 50…

His SCF% and HDCF% are at 52 so not bad

No. We wouldn't. On pace for 50 points is not groundbreaking on a contender. Especially when there is no evidence for this not being a flash in the pan. Kerfoot wouldn't crack our top-six and therefore there is no need for him in Minnesota. A 1st from any team is too much.

you're contradicting yourself here then - if they're all in "right now" they would go after a rental, which Kerfoot isn't. It would make much more sense for them to use that 1st to try and go after Claude Giroux or Rickard Rakell.

If they make this trade, they almost definitely lose Kevin Fiala - they won't have the room to resign him if they add Kerfoot's $3.5M cap hit next year. I'm not here trying to say Kerfoot is a bad player in any way, but you can't tell me you'd basically give up a 1st rounder & Kevin Fiala for Alex Kerfoot + whatever you get back from trading Fiala's RFA rights
