Sens are in great position in the future....but not with these moves. Arizona never agrees to that trade, Ottawa shouldn't trade Brown...especially for so little

Forsberg and Brown trades are really rough for Ottawa.

Would love to hear why you think Brown is only worth a 3rd?

Brown would be on an expiring contract, so the value dips slightly from a 2nd to a 3rd.

Didn't you hear? He's a "3rd liner", therefore he is worth a 3rd round pick! awesome face

Also, the other 2 proposals are pretty terrible too

1) Forsberg and a 2nd for Yamamoto and a 5th? Why would Ottawa give up the best player and the best pick for a player that they have absolutely ZERO use for in Yamamoto? A player who has been overrated for years and shouldn't be anymore, unless it takes you a lot of time to just open your eyes.

2) Chychrun is good but that's quite the package.

- White is a bit overpaid but proves again that he is a very useful 2-way player
- JBD is an excellent shutdown D prospect, hasn't been on the ice in the AHL for an ES goal against since November. Easily worth a first.
- Sogaard was an early 2nd round and has proved why. He is worth another 1st
- a 3rd round pick
- a TOP-5 pick in the next draft

Just that lottery pick has immense value. Sens are not going to add top prospects on top of it.

Why? They should take that and run...

A top-5 pick, 2 prospects worth a first each and a solid middle six versatile center?

Sorry, correcting myself. I should have verified because my memory is not perfect. The real stat is :

"JBD still has only been on the ice for 2 even strength goals against since November." (this was on March 2)

So JBD is a pure shutdown guy and Thomson is a a 2 way player that can also put up points and specifically goals

Yes Thomson will always put more points, he has a very good shot, is more dynamic and has more creativity in the offensive zone.

JBD should be the best defensive player of the 2. We thought Thomson would only be an offensive D-man because of his average/poor hockey IQ but it seems that Troy Mann has already worked some magic on him.

Both have 2nd pairing potential

We are almost guaranteed a top-8 pick, we can't possibly screw that up as there is so many great options this year. Top-12 looks stacked

So to be clear you think a player that's scoring at a 50-60 point pace on a bad team that he doesnt even play on the top line for while also being one of the leagues leading penalty killers, signed at only 3.6m ,would be traded this season with an extra year on his deal for only a late 2nd?
