I’m really high on getting Drouin for Leon have been for a long time. Think it’s a perfect blend of skill sets. Drouin has underperformed in Montreal in my opinion because they don’t really have the right guy he can complement. Big strong defensively responsible shooting centre. Very hard to find fortunately for Edmonton Leon fits that bill and can get a lot out of drouin.

Slipped him threw waivers which I think is possible just to have a veteran in the system incase smith goes down don’t want to call up someone inexperienced to back up skinner. To me that’s crucial if moving kosk.

Given the standings in the Western Conference right now, changing up the goaltending poses quite a bit of risk. I think the only reason Ken Holland would move Koskinen now is if he can seriously upgrade his team's chances of securing a playoff birth and perhaps surprising a few detractors once they get onto the post season. In that respect, I suppose moving him for Drouin might be a something to consider, especially if Montreal is willing to retain that kind of salary. He'd have to be pretty certain that Jones will be able to provide at least what Koskinen has provided, and statistically I think that is a safe bet.

Realistically though, I doubt the Habs are interested in retaining 50% on Drouin and he might disappear in the playoffs, when the games get heavy. I also think the price for Jones and Braun may be pretty rich for Holland. If he made those moves though, I suspect Skinner would remain in Bakersfield and Woodcroft would give Jones a few starts in order to get used to his new team and to give Smith a rest once in a while.

That's a sick top 9 right there, and if Keith can ramp it up for the playoffs, a really solid top 4. Can easily see this team winning a round or two, IF Mike Smith/Skinner/Jones can get a little hot heading into playoffs

I don’t know if woody would really care to get Jones in much since the hope and plan is to run with smith and skinner more focus would be on giving skinner more starts before the playoffs. 2 out 3 kinda thing down the stretch smith gets some rest but stays engaged and sharp. Montreal I think would bite on retaining maybe not full 50% but with the draft being in Montreal makes it a bit more attractive to do now rather than wait till next year and see what they can do with him.

Perhaps Skinner would get a few more starts with Edmonton, to build on the baker's dozen he's had this season. I'm not sure whether the benefits of that would outweigh the risks of Jones not clearing waivers. There are other teams looking for inexpensive veteran depth in net. If one of them claimed Jones, the Oilers would be left with Smith and Skinner. The situation could become quite precarious if Smith misses games again.

Well would want Philly to do the waiver attempt before the deal but either case pretty much all the value giving to Philly in this deal is for Braun since I doubt Jones carries much himself so deal can still happen if Jones doesn’t work out wouldn’t be ideal but could keep eye on waiver wire ourselves for that spot. If they are on waivers that generally means was in nhl and likely played more games than the options have left in Bakersfield so mission accomplished. Really not aiming for anyone expecting to count on. Maybe even stalock but it’s been some time since he’s been in an nhl game so kinda iffy there.

I suspected you had Jones included because it helps clear salary cap space and backstop any on ice risk in sending Koskinen away in the Drouin trade. The idea is enticing, but I think its more likely that Holland pursues Braun on his own and is not focused on a player like Drouin.

I guess another way of putting it is would you rather kosk as back up or skinner + Drouin which of those options make the team better? Jones is just meant as a benchwarmer if someone gets hurt want some nhl experience just in case a game of two is needed. Braun is just injury replacement guy hopefully spends entire time in press box.

You can get Drouin for WAY cheaper than that
50% Drouin gets a 2nd rounder i would say ( max) tho we would target Raphael Lavoie
Terrible Dzone player , minimum traffic , should be a terrible playoffs participants if he ever get there .
Nice pair of hands .
Actually it's the salary retain that get you the 2nd . Not Drouin in any mesure .

Getting Drouin for rest of this year and next year for under 3 million is worth a first. Only want his offensive creativity not paying him to be a compete player. Jp and Leon have strong enough two way ability to carry him in that aspect but once in offensive zone should be very dominating possession line.

No way ! Your gonna have to add Raphael Lavoie if you take it that way ! ( i wouldn't say no to a little backshish myself)
With the 1st and the gift certificate .

Sure, I understand what you are proposing and it looks good as far as I'm concerned. We might differ a bit on which of Jones and Skinner should backup Smith for the remainder of the regular season. It doesn't matter, once the playoffs start. One will be on the roster and the other available via the black aces.
