The Ducks dont trade Terry, and I feel like the Avs dont move Girard

Definitely having a great year. That said it is only one year so far. Neither guy is the finished product yet which is why I'm interested to hear opinions.

Thanks. Yeah I have them pegged as similar value. Maybe Girard a touch higher due to his contract being signed for a good length at a good price, but one for one seems pretty reasonable on the face of it. Possibly it goes down to the team chasing the deal adds a little.

I agree Terry is a bit of an enigma still and its only been 1 season. Girard still young but he's over 300 games we know what he is. He's a Smurf who can put up points in a big way. He's Torey Krug. I don't think the value is much different just depends what your team needs. I think Terry has a bit more value since his game is ascending up in a big way right now.

Enigma is definitely a good choice of description for Terry so far.

The big thing here is to see how Terry performs in the playoffs. As it stands if I am Anaheim I wouldn't move Terry for Girard. Avs add a 1st.

Terry is gonna get 60-70pts easy. Avs need to add like a 2nd, B prospect, or depth player like O'Connor

maybe Girard and a second or prospect might get terry but the ducks still have a semi ok defense, so i think they will look to add depth if they go on a run

Sounds reasonable depending on the prospect. Though it's fair to say Girard is on course for about 50 himself as a D.

I like Terry alot but 1 break out year and only 1 year left on his current contract, I wouldnt move Girard with that sort of risk. His track record of high end play and team friendly contract are just not there to justify moving Girard

Terry has still some unknowns going fwd,

Defensively he has the same defensive impacts as Chychurn and Heiskenen. People really discredit Girards game bc he is small yet defensively he is up there wiht some of the best young Dmen in the game.

For sure, I don't think either team does it as Colorado would be looking to add as well to go deep, and then there's the Byram situation. Anaheim still being in the mix makes it unlikely they'd make the move either. Purely hypothetical. The contract side makes it interesting to me. Terry 2 yrs til RFA vs Girard's nice contract balances things out to me slightly in Girard's favour. As I commented earlier, it probably depends on who is chasing the deal, so a prospect like Ranta/Kaut I could maybe live with if we take this as me 'being Joe' as an Avs fan.

regardless of Byram, I wouldnt take that risk. Girard is a known commodity and with his contract certainity, avs can plan the cap round him. Terry just doesn't have that. I dont like the idea of Terry as an RFA the same offseason as Newhook MacKinnon and Byram. Thats playing with Cap space fire

Terry will be roughly 26 that offseason, you are paying all his UFA years -1 if he is for real, thats an expensive contract

All good points. One thing on the contract though is that if Terry didn't take a hometown discount then nobody would lol, but you're right it would be a lot of guys to get signed together.

Lets say that deal happpens in the offseason when Terry can sign an extension, same as Mackinnon. Then sure I can see how the avs plan around this. Would have to be contingent of Terry signing an extension July 1st, clearly one that works for the Avs.

I think the value is fair.
