Ah yes, because Artem Zub should get a Jack Eichel-esque return. A future Top 4 NHL ready d man (who btw has performed extremely well in a bottom pair role), a top 15 pick from 2 years ago, a 1st rounder, and another solid prospect isn’t enough for a 2nd pair d man in Zub and a bottomed 6 pending UFA

It’s not about the return. Why the heck would we want to take a step back? We only trade Zub for an upgrade or a top RD in the return. He’s not for sale. And to help the Leafs too. Yeah no

That’s the stupidest logic I’ve ever seen. You’re getting literally 3 A level pieces for a 2nd pair d man. He’s a nearing 30 year old d man who puts up solid numbers on the 2nd pair. Jake Muzzin fetched half value of this and he’s a hell of a lot better than Artem Zub. Sens would be downright stupid to reject this

Do you know how hard it is to find a capable RD who’s NHL ready? Zub won’t be traded , therefore there’s no package that could get him. At this point , I’d rather have Zub over Muzzin .

Sandin-Zub would be a better pairing that any pairing with Muzizn

Liljegren is literally NHL ready, RHD, and like 4 years younger than Zub while playing only a few less minutes per night on average in his rookie year. There are plenty of players in the league you could deem untradeable, Zub is not one of them. Are you saying that Zub would, under no circumstances, ever be traded for picks and prospects,

The Sens are done trading core pieces for futures. We aren’t doing that anymore. Unless we have too many of them at one position and we are moving one to fill another weakness . But Sanderson-Zub is going to be a future shutdown pairing . While Chabot plays with one of Bernard Docker or Thomson. The Sens will stay Pat with their core players and look to add another elite forward by way of trade. So, these guys aren’t getting traded

Chabot, Thomson, Zub
Tkachuk, Norris, Batherson, Stutzle, Formenton

Why take that core when you could have a much better core? This ridiculous suggested trade would give you a core that is both better up front and deeper, no reason to reject it

I mean Amirov hasn’t exactly lit it up. Nor has Liljgren, that pick will take 3 years to develop. The Sens need to start competing soon. This move leaves the Sens RD with Thomson, Liljgren and Bernard Docker. Not exactly experienced there

Liljegren has been one of better two way defenders in the NHL for 3rd pair d men this year, and he’s only just starting his career. Amirov is a future top 6er who likely won’t ever top 65ish points but plays a good two way game and great in transition. A first is still a great asset regardless of its timeline

Neither of the trades really make too much sense. The first one is absolutely ridiculous as I wouldn’t trade a single one of the pieces alone for the package we receive and there is no reason to trade Ritchie for negative value. I’d rather just bury him

Since when do teams make trades only based on values and not according to needs? You gotta look for needs before right value

In what world is 26 “almost 30”??? He’ll only be 27 when his contract is over after next season. That’s smack dab in the middle of your prime in my books lol

Zub is a 2nd pair defender, but the point csick is making is that the Sens aren’t looking to trade him.

Toronto should trade Nylander to Ottawa for picks, you don’t really need him do you? Ottawa needs Zub.

Edit: what’s the hubbub on the sub, Zub?

But if we can't make a deal with Nick Paul and you want to talk about trade that involves Matthew Knies ... I'd listen.

Zub is too valuable to the Sens organization. Especially when you consider they are trying to be a suitor for his friend and former teammate Kuzmenko.

I think Nick Paul is gonna ask for 3-3,25 mill. I wouldn’t give it to him tho. I’d trade him for a 2nd or something

If they can get him at 2.75M x4 that's about as high as they should go. Totally moveable contract if things get tight for Ottawa. I don't think we get back a player close to Nick Paul with a late 2nd. Even if we did it would take 3+ years. Hell, it took Nick Paul 6 years from draft day to become an NHL'er. I'd rather a close to ready and NHL sized prospect. Knies from TOR... Nolan Foote from TBL... maybe even Légaré from PIT (although he'd have to include a pick as his stock has fallen).
