Description
Just some ideas, let me know if they are just wrong in value, need tweaking, wrong destination in your opinions
Transactions
1.
PHI
  1. Choix de 2e ronde en 2023 (EDM)
Détails additionnels:
Is the 2nd too high, maybe but Braun at 50% as a RD vet would help solidify that defense, giving a solid stay at home, PK, veteran who's playing 19 mins a night
EDM
  1. Braun, Justin (900 000 $ retained)
2.
PHI
  1. Choix de 4e ronde en 2024 (COL)
Détails additionnels:
Not sure this would be destination
COL
  1. Jones, Martin (1 000 000 $ retained)
3.
PHI
  1. Choix de 2e ronde en 2023 (TOR)
TOR
  1. Brassard, Derick
  2. Yandle, Keith
Détails additionnels:
Brassard had 11 pts in 19 games before injury, brings offense and can play LW or C. Yandle is old, but one thing he can still do is provide some offense, which might make him a nice depth piece as TOR makes playoff run (and lacks blueline production)
4.
PHI
  1. Kempný, Michal
  2. Choix de 5e ronde en 2022 (WSH)
  3. Choix de 3e ronde en 2023 (WSH)
Détails additionnels:
Cap dump of Kempny frees up cap space for them to make a move elsewhere
WSH
  1. Thompson, Nate
Détails additionnels:
Defensive veteran depth at forward
5.
PHI
  1. Jones, Zachary
  2. Kravtsov, Vitali
  3. Choix de 2e ronde en 2022 (STL)
  4. Choix de 2e ronde en 2023 (NYR)
Détails additionnels:
Two good prospects (albeit, Kravtsov is 22 and not in NA) and two lower round 2nds
NYR
  1. Giroux, Claude (4 137 500 $ retained)
6.
PHI
  1. DeBrusk, Jake
  2. Choix de 2e ronde en 2022 (BOS)
BOS
  1. Hayes, Kevin
Détails additionnels:
Is Hayes healthy enough? Is BOS center depth better? Does Hayes waive?
7.
PHI
  1. Zaitsev, Nikita
  2. Choix de 3e ronde en 2022 (BOS)
  3. Choix de 4e ronde en 2023 (OTT)
  4. Choix de 5e ronde en 2024 (OTT)

To be fair, before it all fell apart in PHI and Brassard (among others) got injured, he looked almost better than he had for years, playing well, offensively getting his entire line going, veteran voice, etc....

Honestly don't want to take on the cap hit for Hayes, also the center depth is a lot better with how Haula and Nosek is playing really well. Need more winger depth in the bottom 6 to replace DeBrusk and someone else

Leafs don't need OFD. Only way in which Yandle makes the lineup is if someone is hurt, and when that happens we'll prefer a more defensively reliable player to step in on the 3rd pair. We have good puck moving D in Rielly, Sandin, Liljegren, etc. A depth D add for Toronto would be a more rugged defensive defenceman

I'm not sure Boston is willing to do that with Hayes contract, and taking on Zaitsev for 2 more years wouldn't be fun.

I've always wondered if something around Coyle for Hayes would make sense

I could see the Leafs having interest in Brassard, but they'd want Braun with the retention instead of Yandle if they are making this deal.

I could see EDM being the spot for Marty Jones, with a larger return than what you're getting from COL here, especially is PHI is to retain and/or take back the Koskinen contract for the rest of this year.

Giroux trade probably nets you a 1st if you're retiaining that much salary.

Speaking of retention, a team can only retain on 2 contracts max, so you'd need to probably go with taking back Koskinen to maxmize returns on these 3 deals.

Good points, pretty sure you're allowed three retention spots.

And yes, TOR probably wants Braun more than Yandle, BUT IMO breaking up brassard and braun nets PHI more. I think Braun and retention gets a 2nd and Brassard a 3rd seperately... Yandle is a nice vet for 7th, and brings some offense, which TOR is only getting from Reilly this season. But pretty cheap, veteran depth.

If EDM offered that deal before COL, I expect PHI take it.

As far as Giroux, I didn;t go for a 1st but two low round 2nds, because they're getting TWO good prospects from NYR, (and NYR doesn;t need the retention).

But overall thanks, good points made.

You're right, it is 3 contract, my apologies.

I defintely understand your though process, but Yandle just doesn't fit the Leafs needs. If they wanted him, they could have made an offer for him at league minimum when he signed with Philly, but I don't believe he's ever been on their radar.

Also as a left shot, you can't really play him on the right side and you're not going to bench him now that he's set the consecutive games record, that would be met with terrible press reaction everywhere. I can't see where he would fit in this line up, so I think the Leafs pass on him. They're probably more interested on Braun over anyone else named here due to their current lineup needs.

I get the though behind Giroux, but I think Philly hits a homerun when they deal him as he's going to have quit a few suitors, especially if the team is eating half his salary. You'd get a 1st in that deal for sure, even with the top prospects. Also remember that Kravstov wants out of the organization. Players who ask for trades never end up getting their full value in return for them.
