I know what Brown brings to the table, the Panthers have players like that, too. I don't see Brown the way you see him (he has more giveaways than takeaways and I don't believe he'd be in the Panthers' 1st PK unit), but I get that he's a fan favorite. I see guys like Lomberg and Hornqvist through pink glasses.
Nah you clearly seem to be among the average NHL fans who don't really know who Connor Brown is. And it's ok because the vast majority of hockey fans don't know anything outside of their own team
People like me don't value Brown because he is a "fan favorite" lol, I could care less. But the facts don't lie and I dig a lot of deeper than the average hockey fan does.
- Top-50 in EVP + SHP (even strength points + short handed points) , despite heavy defensive deployment
- 2nd in takeaways (behind only the TkA King Mark Stone)
- 3rd in SH TOI/GP among forwards (elite PKer)
- 17th in Selke votes
There's also the eye test and Connor Brown does A LOT everywhere on the ice. When you know and understand hockey, it's easy to see why he's a coach favorite and quintessential forward.
Also, you say "he has more giveaways than takeaways"... ok 27 vs 20 this season (sample size)... but what about last season? 56 TkAs vs 29 GvAs. Same story the year before and every other godamn season in his career... funny how you conveniently let that part out
Also, "
don't believe he'd be in the Panthers' 1st PK unit" : maybe not because Barkov is an elite 2-way center and Lundell is a rookie but the same kind of player. However, it gives the coaching staff more options if they want to rest Barkov and/or Huberdeau so they get more offensive deployments.

I don't believe Sens have anything to add, the Panthers should probably be giving away less. This trade feels like too much for something the Panthers don't need.
This I can perfectly understand though and I believe it is also a tad too much value, Tippett is still too good of an asset to be on top of that 1st.
Sens fans shouldn't hope to see this trade happen either. It would mean that they can't extend Brown and have to "sell him", which means another rebuilding move... Sens need more good vets, not less.
