Description
I know rangers fans are going immediately say no to Schneider, but in reality this would be the package that’s likely built around. IMO, if Schneider isn’t involved it’s almost a non starter from winnipegs perspective. In a scheifele trade the Jets need to get back a big RHD and wingers.

Another interesting trade partner for Winnipeg would be the islanders. Would be interesting to see NY teams bidding on scheifele.

The Dillon deal could be any team needing a big LD that can play top 4 minutes and PK. Ideally 2 2nds as the return.

DeMelo trade is for any team needing a RD that can play #4/5 and PK.

Stanley is likely the odd man out in this situation so he’s likely moved for a 2nd.

I used Boston as a placeholder for those trades.

Copp deal is essentially just showing jets traded him at the 2022 deadline. Carolina was used as a placeholder, they didn’t have a 2022 1st but that would be the ideal return.

I purposely left a large amount of cap space in case there are any trades that wouldn’t be approved of, or if there’s a free agent option the jets could look at. Kadri would be a great option but think COL keeps him around. Forsberg would be another guy I’d look at.

He is not untouchable, but you have to see where we are coming from (he is our future 2RD after Trouba gets dealt after his NMC is renegotiated). Not a huge fan of dealing Laffy, but that is an alright deal for a win now mentality.

I like them all except for the Appleton trade. You're asks seem reasonable and would be a good start on a new direction for the Jets.

The only thing I don't like about the Appleton trade is it seems like just making a trade to make a trade and I'd rather give Ves a chance with proper ice time and coaching.

Other than that though, well done.

Honestly that’s not a terrible trade for a very good hard nosed center.

Centers like scheifele don’t come around too often

Yeah I have to agree with @windjammer here. I like all the trades except I think Ves is a better player than Appleton, just given less opportunity than Appleton had on the Jets.

My thoughts behind the Appleton deal was to bring in another right shot player. Jets are weak on that, they have a lot of lefties. So I just figured a swap wouldn’t be a bad idea but ves can be kept and just take Appleton’s spot.

My idea for this was basically inject some youth while keeping the window semi open. They have pieces to build around heading forward but can also pivot and compete within a short amount of time.

Washington is set for a deep run, figured they could use a very serviceable middle six C/LW on a cheap deal. Jets probably could get a 2nd for him but realistically a 3rd is more likely.

Yeah he’s consistently at a PPG every year. He just needs to clean up some defensive aspects and he’d be an elite 1C. Plus he has 2 more years at 6.125 million which is a steal for what he brings.

I usually try to make myself uncomfortable in trade ideas when I’m trading for other teams top players. So basically just tried to put myself in the shoes of a rangers fan and put together a package that would make me uncomfortable if I was a rangers fan. Gotta give quality to get quality.

Completely understand why the rangers are high on him. I just think that fans take it a bit far. I think Schneider maxes out around a low end #2/great #3. Which makes him a great prospect, but I’m just not sure how NY gets around trouba’s NMC. He went to NY because his fiancé was in medical school there and will be a practicing physician there. I’m not sure he’ll want to leave. But either way I think the rangers have a team that can win now. They’re so good, scheifele imo puts them in the upper tier of the league. He’s on a great deal too.

The trouble with some Miller and Scheiffle trades is so much cap is going to the Rangers. They can't really afford it this season, and especially next season when Fox and Zibs get 14m in raises alone.

Remove laf, and add kravtsov/Chytil and it’s a lot closer. Rangers won’t give up both the former 1st overall and their top prospect who is looking like a legit late first round steal in schneider

I think at 50% retained Stastny could get a top teams 2nd.

If the rangers offer that for Scheifele I am taking it.

Yeah I know which is why there’s a bit of cap gymnastics that need to happen. Jets could take cap back.
