Description

Don’t think it’ll happen, but making the team nonetheless.

Perfetti gets sent down to let his elc slide. Heinola gets called up and Stanley/Samberg play in a rotation in case of injury.

Vesalainen and Mcleod have similar upside, but McLeod is stuck at 4c and Vesalainen hasn’t been able to get his footing in the nhl.

The jets probably want keep stastny and resign him so I did that.

Dillon is moved out since he would bring the most value at the trade deadline. Additionally, moving him out will give Samberg and heinola a chance to be integrated into the lineup before next season. Dillon probably picks up at least as much as the jets gave up for him.

Smith (NCAA leading scorer) probably also gets moved since the jets probably don’t want to take the chance of him pulling a jimmy vesey

Copp probably isn’t resigning. If a guy like Coleman or goodrow can get 1st rounders, copp can easily get that. I took the Coleman deal as a comparable. Jets also send a high 3rd rounder since Coleman had slightly more value (proven 20 goal scorer)

Beaulieu gets moved for a late pick.

Tbh, I’d be surprised if Dillon doesn’t play next to Trouba in the top 4 but fair enough

From what I understand, a healthy lightning team doesn’t even have him in the lineup. And the lighting don’t have a bottom 6 that is anywhere near past years. Is there something I’m missing here?

The only reason I don’t see Tampa getting middle 6 upgrades is if they go out and get a top 4 rd and they max out on cap/assets available in the process.

Rangers mafia will be all over you for that trade. To them schneider is close to untouchable. Probably just have to move Dillon for 2 2nds. With Nathan smith you could probably get a similar deal from another team in a 2nd and a prospect.

I like the ves swap, NJ needs wingers like ves.

TB isn’t giving that up for Copp, they need Foote going forward with the cap hell they’ll be in.

McLeod has been top-10 in faceoffs all year (top-5 in defensive zone FO%).
Too valuable on the dot when Hughes, Mercer, Sharangovich and Boqvist are all below 50%

If its a 2RW you want, closest we have would be Johnsson or Tatar.
Otherwise, I'd try Kapanen. Other names I have seen bounced around are Kempe, Zadina, Roslovic, Kostin, Donskoi

One idea could be to try a Copp / Studnicka swap with Boston. They need a center this year and Studnick is stuck in AHL.

Boqvist isn’t really what the jets are looking for so the jets probably decline.

Fair enough. At the end of the day, he is a 4c with you guys. He knows he can do more, so I don’t see him wanting to stay in the role very long. But that’s the beauty of opinions

Those guys are left handed, so not of real interest to the jets probably. The pens are going to want a lot for kapanen since they love him. Donskoi makes sense but the cap might be an issue and he isn’t a huge upgrade on what we have (svechnikov/harkins). And god knows we don’t need a Roslovic saga part 2 😂.

Studnika is interesting, but I personally question his offensive upside at the nhl level. I thought McLeod would be a good fit cause he’s defensive by responsible and had the size and speed to really take off on a line with Connor and dubios.

McLeod's strength are his defense, his forechecking and his face-offs.
He is not one I would put as top-six wing.
His biggest weakness - and the one thing he needed extra AHL time to fix coming from juniors - was his stickhandling and puck control.
In juniors, he could just skate past everyone. He was more of a puck-pusher with speed.
But he had to purge that habit to get by in NHL.
Now he is much smarter with it.
Get puck, pass puck, get puck, dump puck, chase puck, pass puck. **Never stick-handle with puck**
The Wood-McLeod-Bastian line may be our 4th line, but is one we want to keep together.

Hmm, most reports I’ve read had him as having his defensive game down pat, but his offensive game hasn’t been able to translate yet, just like Vesalainen. Fair enough though, if he doesn’t have that kind of offensive potential, the jets probably don’t make the move.

Also FYI, you shouldn't play McLeod in the top 6, especially as a winger. He's not very good offensively to be in the top 6

McLeod's defense IS his strength. (what did I say?).

Defense, face-offs and forchecking...points aren't really expected.
A successful shift for that line is winning a faceoff in defensive zone, dumping it and keeping in opponents end for 40 seconds.

The two young guys that are righty shots that could be offensive options are Tyce Thompson and Graeme Clarke. Both are hurt now. Tyce is more of a center skillset, can carry the puck, more playmaking ability. Needs to bulk up a bit. Clarke is a shooter from in close....but is freaking always hurt. (also, both are NHL brothers in families that use last names as first names...which is fun).

The closest young guy to McLeod is Nate Schnarr. Big, skilled, but had been a little slow. Skating has improved this year in Utica.

(Only suggesting prospects because that's really all we got)

I was agreeing with you. I was just referencing that most Scouting reports say that he hasn’t been able to translate his offensive game, but they believe it will come.

Coleman was much better offensively and defensivly than copp not to mention he was also cheaper and had term copp will at best get a 1st if Winnipeg retains some of his contract
