Why would BOSTON want Ritchie back? They didn't give him a qualifying offer in the summer. All he's done is show how right Boston was to not qualify him.

No one is taking Ritchie, but he could be added to the PHI trade as a cap dump. That does mean that Leafs must offer some real quality pieces. I'm thinking Ritchie+Robertson+Niemelä+1st for half retained Giroux, and then a third rounder to a third team who would retain the remaining half of his contract. He'd cost a little over $2M, which is something they could afford.

Philly won't retain that much on CG, for anyone!

If he goes? Then they are in full blown re-build/re-set and will max the return on vets like him (top-picks/top-prospects/top-young NHLers) in order to get back to the dance, or they just keep him (see: Getzlaf-Toews etc).

No way the Philly Mafia stand for a slow / methodical / plodding / baby-steps kinda rebuild like BUF or VAN or ARZ or OTT or ____________ ...

I don’t think they need to trade essentially three first round picks for a rental

Ritchie ate the paperwork. He's still a Leaf.

It's just the ballpark. Point being they need to offer some serious quality. The rental market this year is comparably meh so there's likely a bidding war awaiting for top assets.

I think he ate the Big Mac 'paperwork' and wiped his "secret-sauce'd-chin" w/ the trade call paperwork...

Way to much to give up for a rental, 3 first round picks? Our farm system would be so depleted and we need cheap contracts with our cap situation. Just my opinion.

Did Giroux somehow go back in time to become 28 again? Come one man, that price tag for an old declining Giroux is insane. Effectively 3 first rounders for an old vet on an expiring contract is ridiculous.

So many of these Holl for Bortuzzo trades...and the result is the same. Blues decline.

No one is going to take ritchie. Not a chance. 50% retained, maybe if the leafs throw in a sweetener.

I said it when he signed, and i stand by it…he spends the majority of his time under contract playing for the Marlies. He is not an NHL player.

I think the idea with a lot of leafs fans ACGM moves, at least with mine anyway, is just tinkering with the cap to fit under it. Obviously I don’t think two contending teams are gonna swap RHD’s but I’m just avoiding making 5 different trades

You would be better off explaining yourself by saying "it's the Leafs, the rule is they have to get absolutely destroyed in all trades because they are the leafs". You're clearly super bias.
