Price isn't coming to EDM, not unless you're taking a long-term contract back. Barrie instead of Turris than maybe, but that money doesn't work at all (and idk if I'm willing to give up Bourgault)

I know it sounds crazy to trade Chiarot for a 1st but thats what is value will be at the trade deadline. If Savard could get a 1st last year Chiarot is definitely worth that. I picked the Rangers just cuz I feel they could use a bit more depth at LD but it could easily be any of the top contending teams. Don't put to much weight on the Rangers

I know he's been terrible this year but I do believe one team will hope he can get his game back to add a bit more depth for the playoffs

Price at 8 million is very reasonable when you look at his previous playoffs success. I do believe EDM wants to get far in the playoffs this year and Price is a massive upgrade on Koskinen or Smith and that comes with a price. I think they'll be willing to bet he can stay at his top form for a few more years

With Covid, condensed schedule, and Olympics (maybe), I think people are underestimating the market. Even if your team is fine now, reinforcements will be favoured once roster expansion kicks in.

$8m is still way too much. edm would be better off just flipping a 3rd for allen.

I can see MTL taking a long-term contract back. But, upgrading from Koskinen/Smith to Price that as to come with a big price even if that Price contract might be an issue long term. EDM wants badly to go further in the pIayoffs for the next few years and I do believe Price could solve a lot of issue. I won't personnally ask for less than Bourgault if I were the Habs with a Price's retained salary. They'll only have to figure out how they can make that trade work financially.

They could but the thing is they want an upgrade in goal and Allen isn't it. And there's not a ton of very good goalies available in the market right now. The rarety of top goalies can raise Price's value. I mean I put 8M but it could be 7M or less, they'll only have to figure out how they can make that trade work. Wether is taking a long-term EDM player back or wathever. But, my point is Price definitely will have a high trade value with a more reasonable cap hit for a team that wants an upgrade in net and go far into the playoffs. I just think EDM would be the best trade partner but that's just my opinion.

Not putting any weight on the Rangers because they don't need more D at all.

Well they can only be one injury away from needing a replacement at the left side. And that is true for almost every team. I would agree though that they have a solid D core

Exactly every team is at one or two injury away or a big Covid outbreak to be in real trouble. The market I do believe will be very high in this year trade deadline.

price hasn't been a top goalie in a couple years. on top of that there is both on-ice and off-ice issues. even with half retention his contract is still bad. don't see edm being interested unless someone like keith is going the other way.

Off course this trade could only work with a well known physically and mentally healthy Price. Let's say and end up playing for Canada at the Olympics and plays very well that will raise his value by a lot. But we can't know that yet we'll see in march where he's at. I'm only assuming he will be healthy and at his true form. But Price's stats IMO are a bit skewed due to MTL defense being very poor the last few years. I do believe he's still one of the top goaltender in this league but that's a completly different argument. I know long term his contract will not look great but EDM wants to win right now and I think they'd be willing to take a sacrifice to win in the very short term. The bigger issue for me it's more of how they can make that trade financially.

3,5M is not bad for the defenseman he was just last year. Last summer a whole lot of teams would've wanted to sign him this contract if he wouldn't want to go to his hometown team. Again it depends on if teams feel like he can find his game back. But, yeah I agree it can be a mistake to believe that but who knows what a GM can think

Zac Jones is ready to come up from Hartford. Plus they have Tinordi as well on left side. Rangers have more than enough depth on D, so much so, they will be trading some to get a top 6 or top 9 forward pretty soon.
