LOL, Sabre fans would not like this trade so much today.
While Drouin is doing well, Tuch is a RW and wants to play in Buffalo and is signed for five years.
IDK who will be better Krebs or Caufield.

You fail to understand a very basic concept (much like almost everyone else here). BUF says no to this trade, fast.

    Why do you think this?
Most Sabre fans were insisting that either Caufield or Suzuki be part of the deal.
It is not much different than the Vegas trade.
Do you think Buffalo says no so they do not have to play against MTL? Or do you think the Canadians would have needed to add more?
@vr1995 in September, Buffalo fans wanted Caufield, most MTL fans thought Drouin was a bust.

That deal is much worse for Buffalo compared to the Vegas one. Drouin and Byron are multi year semi cap dumps. Sabres prefer Tuch. Now what is the Krebs and Caulfield values? Could be equal.
Now if Buffalo knew Montreal might be top 5 lottery pick, yea then maybe Buffalo does the deal, but who would've known in September.
But Habs after a Cup final appearance, at least in September didn't want to trade three NHLers for an injured player

First off, MTL is in the same division - higher price. Second, it's not enough on value. Tuch is far superior to Drouin and Krebs is superior to Caufield. Lastly, you're failing to consider the value of the pick.

These "equivalent" trades are pure nonsense - that's not how this works.

Sooooo nothing, since Buffalo would had refuse that offer ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Your offer isn’t even close to a center prospect and à 20G hometown power foward under contract for 5 years...

Yeah I guess 7 points in 11 games is semi cap dump.

No center in the trade so BUF would have nixed that. Do I think MTL could have swung a trade for Eichel yeah, but they would have had to had the best offer by far to get it done and almost without a doubt Suzuki would have had to be part of it to make BUF trade him to a division rival.

No center in the trade so BUF would have nixed that... I think you are correct, but right now with Mittelstadt, Cozens, Thompson and Quinn (I think the Sabres are trying him as center as well), the Sabres would have wanted more than this offer not necessarily a center. You are the only one who offered constructive comment regarding the trade. As you can see some even decided to start with an insult, LOL!
    Thanks for your comments.
You are all correct that the offer from Vegas is better than this one.
Remember this post was presuming Bergevin and Buffalo were dealing in September, not 10 games into the season.
So put yourself into a time machine consider what could have been offered!
So the purpose of the post was to demonstrate that Dvorak was the wrong center to add and MTL had the assets to make the trade.
I was hoping that most responders would offer suggestions rather than just a categorical no.
I think during the offseason most Sabre fans would have wanted Caufield over Krebs as Cole had just completed and excellent playoff.
Tuch is certainly the best player as he wants to play in Buffalo.
On the other hand trading Suzuki for Jack would not have made any sense for the Canadians, who would have played center for MTL for the first two months?

So the answers I was hoping to receive were centered more on what else needed to be offered.

You'll get use to it, people are very shortsighted here and always think everyone else is in the wrongdoing.

Yes, the post was about a trade in September. Yes, at the time, and still probably still 8.9m X 2 for Drouin and Byron,,,,yea that's a semi cap dump

    I agree.
I try to listen to other ideas to help me to understand teams needs and value of players.
As I said, at the time, I felt Bergevin may try harder to get Eichel, instead he opted for the cheap alternative.
Today, Caufield, MTL 2022 first, CAR 2022 first, Drouin, Poehling, Tuch and Byron may not appear to be too much.
I think Buffalo would have said yes to that offer, but who knows as you corrected pointed out.
Most important, if Bergevin had over paid for Eichel, Jake would be in the NHL next month.
