if you look at it like how he has been on the top 4 of a very good regular season team, he would fetch more value than that, dont be surpeised when they trade him if they get a pair of seconds from a fringe playoff team

Marner isn't a fit in Washington salary wise. Too much money would have to be shed to make that work, and he hasn't proven to be worth it. I think he'd be an awesome playmaker to pair with Ovechkin, but Wilson is a one-of-a-kind player, and the Caps need to keep him around. Plus he's signed at a rate that's a $1-2M less than he'd get on the open market.
