How I wouldve done the Off-season

Description
My idea was to open a two year window of cup contention. You sign Buchnevich to a 2 year deal with a big cap hit (8-10 mil) in the first year with a lower cap hit in the second before signing fox and Kakko. You bring in Blais and reaves for the grit we needed but don’t over do it by giving Goodrow a terrible contract. You get Tarasenko as part of that 2 year window as well as re-signing smitty instead of signing Tinordi and signing Ryan Murray instead of Patrick Nemeth.

You name Fox Captain, Bread, Zibby, Krieds, Buch and Stromer get A’s. I know 5 As and a C are a lot but it gives you a clearly defined leadership group. Plus you have smitty and Reavo who are looked at as leaders as well; but they don’t get a letter because of their lesser role on ice

This team will provide more scoring than the current roster as well as add the needed grit. You also upgrade G2 at a much cheaper price.

After this two year a window a bigger window opens on the back end of Breads deal middle of Trouba, krieder Shesty and Zibbys deal and at the beginning of Fox Laf Kakko Lindgren and Miller contract

This is how the Rangers Off-season should’ve gone

Heh. Doug Armstrong is not Chris Drury. The Blues would never have accepted that.

You think so? I would probably not add Sammy Blais to the trade, and I think it's pretty even after that. This is pretending it's still the summer where it was a gray area, and not now where both parties seem to like each other again. I don't necessarily follow the Blues, but based on how many games #Winnington plays, it seems they don't have much confidence in their backup (and overplaying him likely contributed to two really poor playoff performances). You get a middle six winger with tons of alleged upside (granted, you have to play him, or he cries), a backup goalie, and a 1st round pick, to shed someone that requested a trade with NO retention. Who beats that offer?

Again, this is me not agreeing with the poster on Blais also being part of the deal. But based on your comment that doesn't seem to be your only gripe

Minnesota would have never signed Barclay due their cap , and not needing wingers. That Goodrow contract is bad

Hmm, I guess if you have one semi decent offensive season you immediately get named captain. I guess you haven't learned from the whole Eichel situation at all. Just remember, Fox would never be with NYR if he wasn't a diva.

Spicy little number here! You mean brilliantly set up his life and career within all rules, crazy not to. Oh ya, and he's great all around as well lol

He's not implying they did, he's just moving him to a random roster to get him off the Rangers to illustrate how their roster would look.

so how would you deal with resigning fox, kakko, and zibanejad? i mean zibanejad alone was almost 3m dollars extra, fox would get a 9m deal, and even on a bridge deal kakko would get paid too. ig keeping buchnevich and having tarasenkos 7.5mil contract with a side dish of an NTC is better than being able to resign your core. yes, signing goodrow on that massive contract was a mistake, and having to trade away buchnevich wasnt fun, but this is just daft.
