Extending Hertl and Using Cap Space From Kane Contract Termination to Sign Palat

Explications
Additionally, Sharks can ship out the final year of either Bonino, Hill or Reimer (whoever performs worse) to create more breathing room in their cap space and bring up Robins/Bordeleau if Bonino or Melnichuk it's a goalie. Not necessarily something they'd absolutely need to do though.

Anywhere for anything. He's a good player and I especially liked him in the 1st game this season, was very physical and defensively sound. Just a logjam at LD in SJ and they need the cap space more. Realistic to think he'll be traded out.

We can't terminate Kane's contract. It will be a costly buyout or trade

We don't know this for sure. They have the best legal team as a half-billion-dollar organization and I'm sure they're looking into a way to terminate the contract by Nov. 30, which explains their statement that they won't address the situation further until then. Will they find it? Maybe, maybe not. But with a definitive finding by the NHL that Evander actually DID violate something, they can use that to their advantage since all the hearsay until now had been allegations from his ex-wife which were unsubstantiated and therefore couldn't be legally used against him.

In short, let a man hope lol...

Fair point. I am with you I hope we can terminate it too but I am also a pessimist.

I hope you guys manage to terminate that contract, but if not that will be a costly buyout or a costly trade (at least a first and a second for someone to take him)

Sharks are heading towards a rebuild, They've one of the oldest rosters in the league. Very doubtful Hertl is signing with the Sharks when they're heading towards a rebuild. And Palat yeah not happening.

You would have thought the NHL (which is the an organization that interrupts rules set up the owners and players) would have terminated Kane's contract if they could.
Not too many years ago they could have. But now gambling is considered "a health addition", so the laws of the land supersede any NHL rules. So really you can't "fire" an employee for gambling.

Now if the NHL had found proof that Kane bet on game he played in, especially if bet on San Jose to lose.....then the NHL might have just cause to terminate his contract.

The gambling allegations they determined months ago that nothing could be substantiated (the wife stuff too).

What's hopeful IMO is that the Sharks finally have a serious violation in the fake COVID-vaccine card that was substantiated by the league via a hefty 21-game suspension to work with and try to make a case for it to result in a contract termination.

there are isolated areas that suck... but tell me there aren't places like that on the east coast too umm florida!!!!
Bay area is an ideal place to live for the upper class and a multi millionaire like palat would live in the nicer areas where players love and stay even after retiring.

LOL no people are leaving California because our government is taxing the middle class and businesses to hell and pilling on regulations that prohibit business growth.
California is actually an amazing place to live and raise family. the only issue is the middle class is getting squeezed bad, but hockey players and their salary make them high class.
California is one of the only places that offers anything you could want! you can ski in the morning, surf on the afternoon and still make the game at 7:00.
our weather is amazing (low humidity mild winters warm summers) and TONS of parks amazing scenic attractions and tons of entertainment year round.

I was stationed in California for 6 years but even athletes have to live with the government . It's not just poor and middle class with issues hell former Senator Boxer was attacked and robbed walking down the street.

The buyout is not terrible but the PA will fight termination all the way to arbitration if they have to. The only way we get a termination is if kane is charged and convicted by California for falsification of the vaccine card and goes to jail. Kings could not get rid of all the Richards deal.

Oh wow I didn't know that, thanks for sharing.

DW's just going to have to weigh his options from here on... I think you have to start with waiving him since his contract has a limited-NTC so he can block a trade to most teams (assuming he doesn't waive). I could see DW waiving him with the intention of a goals-stricken team like MTL picking up and in exchange DW pays like two 3rds to pick up Paul Byron.

Like Vols said the buyout isn't that bad and the way the team has been playing without him proves that.
