I love the deal as Leaf fan. Get 7m in cap space and likely a lottery pick, and a second and last years second overall, Beniers. In many ways I don't know why the Kraken do the deal. Three years of Marner is he worth for a non playoff team? Even taking out Beniers, I don't think the Kraken do the deal.

The only way that I would accept it is if that 2022 first round pick is the first pick and the Leafs get Shane Wright. Otherwise, any Mitch Marner trade is garbage

I can't see Seattle trading Beniers. I think most people realize MM is overpaid at this point. Seattle passed on bad contracts for good players all through the expansion draft, not sure why they go back on that now.

So the leafs are going to trade the leagues 4th leading scorer for a 3rd liner, a unproven draft pick and 2 picks that guarantee nothing. Marner is only getting traded for a teams 2 best players and a top prospect. Obviously their are a few exceptions. I don't think most people know how good he is. 4th league scoring, 6th in takeaways, if he played the last game of the season he would have lead the league in ice time for forwards 2 years straight. If the pp didn't disappear second half of the season he may have finished 2nd in league scoring. He's the only leaf to play on the #1 unit in every situation. Matthews because he scores goals is rated the best player but Marner does a lot more for the team.
