i don't think you're getting a second back for trouba even at retained salary

I personally don’t agree. At $6.25 mil that’s a good contract and in real life if offered a gm would most certainly say yes. We only make the deal to have more flexibility otherwise I’d keep him.

Wings have no interest in Trouba who does not match rebuild timing and we already have two RHD in Hronek and Seider.

Philadelphia just made a very similar move in acquiring Ristolainen for a 1st, 2nd and roster player so it seems likely Trouba would return ~ that

If it comes down to it Trouba is easier to move than Kreider. Odds are with the cap only going up slightly we’ll need to make a move like this. And it’s better than a buyout.

Oh yeah I’m not denying that. I meant Trouba still has a NMC in 2023-24.

I know that part, same with Kreider. I think they’ll be asked to waive and if not buyout time.

I can’t say I’d expect them to waive for the purpose of a trade, unless they aren’t getting desired playing time. Kreider is a big power play asset and Trouba is a penalty killer, so I don’t think they’ll be getting insufficient minutes per game. Unless you can move guys like Nemeth, you’ll probably have to swallow the pill with a buyout unfortunately.

Crazy part is, this team has shown they’ll buyout and move on from anyone so when the time comes I wouldn’t be surprised and would be perfectly okay. Replace Trouba with Lundkvist and Schneider. Nemeth with Robertson or Jones and Kreider with Othmann, Cuylle, Grubbe or Korczak.

red wings might be the only team he waives for since hes from michigan. i would like him on the team but he would be like at third pairing minutes with seider and hronek in front of him so thats a pretty expensive guy on the third pair. it really all depends who he would waive his clause for. the buy out at that time isnt too ridiculous though.

Honestly I don’t care what happens with him. In 2-3 years he’s gone, whether it’s via buyout or trade makes no difference to me. We’ve got guys coming up to replace him in the pipeline and I’m not concerned. Same with Kreider and Goodrow, when it’s time to move on from them as well we will do so, younger guys will fill in. No one individual is bigger than the team imo. Hence we do what we must for the good of the team.
