These are the type of trades that never happen in hockey. Have u ever seen a trade where a guy like Brannstrom gets traded for Guhle and a 1st? Cuz I haven’t

Think all moves here are lopsided in OTT's favor, save the Patrick offer sheet. That is a disaster.

The types of trades you see are a D prospect for forward prospect swap and stuff like that. But I’ve never seen a D prospect traded for a D prospect.

Brannstrom is available if we can get a 2nd young player but I don’t understand swapping him for a guy like Guhle

How on earth could it possibly be a disaster

Only obligated for 2 years 4M$ per

If it doesn't work out they won't be contending those years so the cap isn't compromised and they can just avoid QOing him at the end of it..

If it does work out they have a good middle 6 C for 4M$ with a bright future and he'll be an RFA at the end of his deal, with lots of potential

All they give up is a 40th overall pick

😐

Do people analyze things here or just react abruptly?

Vegas matches that offer sheet since Tuch is out until near the trade deadline. They gave up Glass for him, they’re not losing him for a 2nd.

Ottawa going into the season with a centre who should be in Belleville, and two centres who could end up on IR fairly easily. You might as well say Ottawa’s centre’s are;
Norris, Bishop, Paul, and anyone they can grab off the waiver wire

It's a very high risk, high reward move. Patrick's performance last year makes him worth less than a league minimum deal, but the guy still has some untapped potential...maybe.

1) OTT : 2022 4th round pick (SEA) + 2022 4th round pick (CGY) - SEA : Tierney, Chris

IF Seattle want/need Tierney, remove a 4th and that's maybe more realistic

2) OTT : 2022 2nd round pick (SJS) + 2022 2nd round pick (VAN) - ARI : White, Colin

I don't see Ottawa moving Colin White, at least not now. He's Chabot best friend, is really liked by basically everybody and is a solid 3rd line player. He's a bit overpaid but still 24 y/o and could prove to be worth his AAV in his 4th NHL season. We're talking about a team that is struggling to reach the cap floor, so again no idea why they would move White.

3) OTT : Appleton, Mason - SEA : 2022 2nd round pick (VAN)

If that trade was possible, I would want Ottawa to do it for sure. Seattle would regret trading him for a pick, he's exactly the type of player they need to give a bigger opportunity to

4) OTT : Guhle, Kaiden + 2022 1st round pick (MTL) - MTL : Brännström, Erik

I wouldn't consider trading Brannstrom for Guhle and let's say a secondary piece. But we're talking about Montreal's 1st round pick in 2022 here... If they miss the playoffs, this pick will have a lot of value. Montreal wouldn't do that anyway as they would be crazy to take kind of unecessary risk. They'd maybe make that trade if they had a crystal ball and knew they were going to the ECF again

I don't know the specific cap fix at the TDL, I'm just saying that Vegas gets until the TDL to figure it all out, and it's better to take the two year deal with Patrick than it is to lose Glass for a 2nd.
