Any Oilers trade for DeBrusk is going to have to include Kassian to make the money work. Same with most any other team at this point with most rosters set. Kassian is big and can skate and fits a Bruins style of game so I do see a fit. Appears DeBrusk isn’t fitting into the Bruins plans so dealing from a position of weakness. Unless he rebounds big, no one will want to take on that QO.
Think ahead one year and it’s likely they don’t qualify DeBrusk and lose him for nothing. Even at the trade deadline, they likely need to take something not very good back or a lower pick to take the contract. I could see this happen only b/c the Bruins would have an asset earlier in the year to use or flip. Only reason Oilers do this is he is local and more likely to stay for less than his QO at year end or to free up more cap room for 22-23 if they walk away.
I don’t think the Oilers give up that much honestly. Maybe Kassian and a B prospect or mid-round pick. Bruins will be hard pressed to get a good return.
