sounds about right. if you tell Lou to release the contracts so we can do the math on how much space the Isles have left, I'll tell Rutherford to get it together and stop writing nonsense.

Training camps don't really prove if a player is fully healthy.

He would need to go through a few weeks of regular NHL season game to prove he is healthy again.

And yes, Lou just announce the contracts to put an end to this.

Lou will release the contracts the day before training camp - I’m looking forward to seeing a healthy Tarasenko at Blues camp!

Both teams likely reject that trade.

Erm, he already went through 2 1/2 months of regular season and playoffs last season. No issues with the shoulder to speak of.

eh, but he didn’t look particularly good. i feel like for the islanders to offer beauvillier in a trade, it would have to be pretty clear that tarasenko can play at a high level.

1- He looked less than his usual self, no doubt. His skating was fine, his physical play was fine, his timing on passing and shooting was off, and his decision making wasn't crisp. Then again, he did come off a long layoff with no preseason into a condensed schedule with hardly any practice time while everyone else was in mid-season form/fitness... and still put up points at a 2nd liner rate. Give him a preseason and he'll be fine.

2- I never said the Isles should give up Beau for him, did I?

the beau trade was the trade in the post, which is why i referenced it. and maybe given a preseason he’ll be fine, or maybe he won’t be. i feel like GMs will want to see if he takes that next step, which is why i feel like a tarasenko trade will happen at the deadline when armstrong can more easily get the return he wants, or where his value will decrease to what GMs are offering now.

That may well all be the case, but it doesn't change the fact that he played from March on last season and that he came back under the far less than ideal circumstances I described above. Take almost any player and put them in that same scenario, and they won't look like their normal selves for the first 2-3 months or more.

And if he does start the season with the Blues and looks his normal self, the cost of acquiring him will skyrocket and all those GMs will wish they'd made the move sooner.
