Why wouldn't Edmonton just wait until the 28th and sign Hyman for free and use Klefbom's LTIR to add another player?

Leafs will be lucky to get a 5th/6th...
Otherwise, teams will wait and give them nothing,

You sure? We're talking about Ken Holland. Dubas knows how to fleece GMs. There was also prior interest in Klefbom and his LTIR space. Holland is desperate. Leafs have all the cards

There are other teams knocking on the doors. They aren't as desperate as the Oilers though and can wait

Please go read the Ltir faq. L-t-I-r is - not- free- cap- space!!!

Which is plainly obvious by your agm. revert the signing and trade and wow, cap space stays the same.

Buddy, I know how LTIR works. You are not accumulating any cap, but more of a replacement of what should be a players cap hit

Holland can be dumb but not that...
Besides - TML have right now, tonight, post expansion - 17 NHLers signed and ONLY US$9.355M in Cap Space...

HYMAN - he gone....

You should learn it if you think the cap grows with LTIR. You are using the space that should be accumulated to the player. Your cap doesn't grow

Yes… you get relief for klefboms cap hit. 4.167m in and 4.167m relief. Leafs are right back where they started. A bag of pucks would be more valuable to the leafs.

But they can spend more so theres that. Would prefer maybe Kahuns rights and a pick but meh if we do this there is potential

we got one of the best medical and rehab centers in the NHL could make him healthy enough to come back in 6months or a year

then flip Rielly for assets and more cap space wink

You are not growing your cap, but you can use the cap that is placed on LTIR when it should have been originally used. It's more of a replacement. There is value to LTIR

**** me… this guy’s going to try to teach me about ltir.

The only reason leafs wouldn’t take on klefbom is if there is a chance he will ever return to firm. I have heard that is unlikely.

LMAO I love how you think you’re educating me. Buddy, the leafs get NOTHING out of this deal except they have to pay a guy to sit on LTIR. You made a terrible trade. The cap space doesn’t grow. Leafs get nothing out of this. Get a grip.

It’s already being used on klefboms cap hit. Again there is a perfectly fine faq here that breaks its down into terms. If you would like I can give you the link to the cba.

I will try to explain it to but it gets tiresome that no one takes the time to learn about it.

Let’s say leafs are at 77.5m ( I will explain why I used that later) so they have 4m in cap space. (Remember that) they acquire klefbom at 4m they are now at 81.5m. They put him on ltir and can now spend 85.5m. Since they are at 81.5m that leaves them… tada!!! 4m. Exactly where they were before getting klefbom but worse. They can not accrue cap space while they are above 81.5m meaning that they will not be able to use accrued cap space at TDL even if they are no longer using ltir. Even worse is if they are still using relief TDL acquisitions are not pro rated meaning every dollar on their aav counts against the cap.

Now the reason I used 77.5m and rounded klefbom to 4m. The ACSL accruable cap space limit is set by your total teams full cap hit the day you put the player on ltir. You only receive relief on top of this limit. So if you are at 79.5m you would only be able to spend to 83.5m rather than 85.5m.

I hope that makes it clear.

I’m glad not everyone is a dunning Kruger champion on this site.

On a positive note I’m sure his contract is insured…

Potential for nothing. Klefbom is done this season and possibly his career. I’m sure the leafs would love to screw over their trade deadline for absolutely no reason.

We dont got any picks to make deadline moves. Just spend in the offseason and be done with it. If a deadline move is needed work it out when needed

We still have a 1st and 2nd… what are you talking about? Just don’t spend them on trash players like Foligno.
