I doubt the Kraken trade Gio for Copp, let alone add Appleton. He’s still a top pair guy and Copp’s a middle sixer, only Winnipeg would value him anywhere near that high.

That's pretty terrible for Winnipeg. The Jets let Seattle take a more valuable player and get stuck with Giordano's cap hit for a year.

Winnipeg is better off letting Seattle take Appleton and trading Copp elsewhere for a better return if he won't sign a reasonable dollar extension.

Gio is old as dirt.. Copp is a good 2-way 2nd line player currently.

Copp is the ultimate Swiss Army knife, can play lines 1-3. Can play PK, and PP. I know so many people don’t know how great he is, but people who watch see it. He’s a perfect middle six guy. This trade heavily favours seattle. Considering they’d be able to get Copp signed long term. Gio is a 1 year rental. Jets are better off just not making this deal, letting Appleton go, then trading Copp somewhere else for a pick and a prospect.

Great feedback everyone. I agree that Copp is valuable player. My concern is that he and Kurt Overcharge file for arbitration again and he becomes a UFA in a year. Not sure that they get a good pick and prospect or a decent player considering these circumstances. Gio played well with Tanev and I am sure the Kraken would get something good for him at the deadline.
