We trade Kravtsov for a 1st round pick, ideally in the top 10-15. Essentially we get back the pick we spent on him for a future prospect.

Im not crazy about retaining Strome (his mediocre faceoffs, soft style of play and being the master of trying to make the perfectly aweful cross ice pass, but atleast we know what we have in him and we know he plays very well with Breadman. Whether or not he gets an extension past this year remains to be seen.

However the bottom 6 is a huge improvement over what was there.

If that’s really what it would take for MIN to get Chytil, absolutely. I think he’s worth more though.

I think Momtreal would prefer maybe some thing like Skinner + Cuylle or 4thfor Chiarot but I think Skinner has to be included

Chytil is a young budding prospect, however he hasnt really blown anyone away. His value is strictly because of age and potential. We could maybe get more, but thats preliminary.

Wild do that in a heart beat since they would get a younger player with more room to hit a higher ceiling at roughly the same cap hit as Greenway for at least 2 years.

This is also precisely why NYR shouldn’t do it unless they really want the contract certainty. And even then I think the pick would be a 2nd.

    Don’t trade kravtsov
    Don’t trade chytil
    Trade strome
Top 6 should be panarin zibby kakko laf x kravtsov
If Chytil and fill the x role maybe try and get a good center who can actually win a faceoff

So youd rather trade a proven young commodity Buch and keep Kravtsov? Id rather keep Buch over Krav and recoup a 1st round pick for future player development.
Chytil isnt a center, lets just accept that and move on.
Dvorak can win faceoffs, hes been over 50% his whole career. However, Ive accepted not EVERYONE needs to be lights out on faceoffs. If Strome stays at 47-48%, thats totally acceptable considering his chemistry with Panarin.

Don’t agree here…his pts/60 for last year is among some real good company- which suggests the “problem” with him was his usage- not his production…For sure NYR do need more from him…but can’t forget he’s still only 21. If they were to move him I’d want considerably more than Greenway and 4th.

At the end of the day, Quinn cant get on the ice and win faceoffs for him. Quinn cant get on the ice and stop him from turning the puck over. Quinn cant get on the ice and make the defensive plays for him. Quinn cant get on the ice to make him use his size and take the body for him. Chytil is the one on the ice, at the end of the day he has to play hockey.

So what hes 21, thats a terrible excuse. Every 21 year old needs to be handled with white gloves and treated like the next superstar? 3 years and I am not convinced that he is a center. He might turn into a good LW on another team, but he certainly isnt a center.

You’re right that he has to play- learn to play physical, play the body, not make turn overs, etc. But that all might come with continued development…don’t forget Panarin, Fox, and many others weren’t even in the NHL at 21- Chytl was “asked” to develop in the worlds best hockey league….so let the guy continue to develop! And I do think you seem to be over valuing face offs. One more thing: several young players have been mishandled by Quinn and the NYR management…it’s only Howden who has been handled with white gloves!

With this team, I am accepting of everyone not being a stud at faceoffs by retaining Strome because of his leadership and chemistry with Panarin. But we cant have a 2C whos ok at faceoffs, a 3C whos the worst at faceoffs and a 4C whos not as bad but not better than Strome at faceoffs.

Like I said, if he was on the wing, I think he would turn out to be a solid player, but at center, I dont see, after 3 years of being a full time player at the NHL level, that he has gained those intangible things that make centers who they are. The vision, the ice awareness. Atleast show some improvement on the faceoffs, being sub-40% is ridiculous.

So If we can get a center, who is 3 years older (25), entering his prime who is a solid all-around player and potentially can take over the 2C role from Strome when his contract expires at the cost of Chytil, Im all for it.

Agree here with the points you make- especially about on ice awareness, vision, etc. And picking up Dvorak would be a great move- but I’d rather see that coupled with moving from Strome and giving Chytl the 3c spot with the hope he forces his way onto 2nd line….with Dvorak (a good2c) now a high end 3c at a very reasonable cost. As much as I try not to over emphasize face offs- I do agree that his % is dismal and has to improve…in the meantime though if he plays with guys like Kreider, and/or Martinook/Coleman?? those guys can take D zone draws. In the end someone will have to be moved- only so many roster spots….if it is Chytl I just don’t want him sold for pennies on the dollar.

I understand the pennies on the dollar thing, however if we are getting something in return that immediately helps us and makes us a better overall team, then so be it. You cant win every trade. Im sure if they do plan to move on from Chytil, theyll try to get max value for him and go from there.
