D) Kunetzov is the contingency plan for most teams.

B. Yea he has a herniated disc. Friedman said if he gets surgery it's 2-3 months recovery time. The guy is signed for 5 more years.
C. Injured Eichel still put up 18 points in 21 games with good analytics.
D. And Kunetzov is worse than Eichel.
E. 10M is a good deal for a player like him. Would get more if he was a FA. The "zero playoff games" is a joke argument. The team has been an absolute dumpster fire the last 5 years. He's not in control of the awful depth, goalies, defense, and coaching.
F. Getting high picks & good prospects would be a win.

Huberdeau, Stamkos, Scheifele, and Chabot can all definitely be removed from that list. Hughes and Caulfield probably wouldn't be available either.

A) I don't agree. Every team knows they can low ball because you won't have a choice in a year. Barkov is also a FA in a year.

Schiefele is older with his own injury concerns. They would take Eichel. Eichel over Chabot is a no brainer. Caulfield over Eichel is hilarious.

A. There are teams like Anaheim or Columbus that have no chance at him once his NMC kicks in. They're not preferable destinations. If they want him they have to pull the trigger now. Barkov isn't going to those teams either as a FA. Plenty of teams aren't FA destinations and this is their golden opportunity.

E. Players haven't started making 10M+ only recently. Use % of salary cap instead. Lidstrom won with 17.3%, which would be 13.8M right now and Crosby won with 15.3% which would be 12.5M.

Try doing even some remote homework on a cervical disk replacement surgery or cervical fusion surgery. Those are Eichels only 2 options right now for getting back on the ice. This is not a torn ACL or broken foot, this is a very serious and uncommon injury that is going to require surgery.
Nobody in the NHL has ever gotten the disk replacement, and only 2 players in recent history have gotten the fusion. 1 of those players is still playing (Letang, but it did effect him for a while) the other was forced into retirement shortly after (Dorsett).

You have no idea about his condition currently. You haven't looked at his MRI or the condition of his disc. Friedman said on his podcast that even if he gets the disc replacement it's 2-3 months recovery time. A concern? Sure. Extremely serious? Huge exaggeration.
