The weakest draft in years

i don't think it's "weak" there is just a lot of unpredictability with how little some of these players have played the last year and a half

like most drafts the scouts know the top end/1st round players, it's the later rounds that will be even bigger crapshoots than a normal year

If Eklund and Guenther are still on the board, no way the sharks go with a dman. Even after last years draft with all the F's our D pool is still pretty deep and we still lack higher-end offensive prospects outside of Wiesblatt. Only way we take a dman is if Clarke is still on the board.

Unpredictability is just a ˝bonus˝. Offensive talent of 2021 class might be worst in a decade or so. But I do understand a hype, that is all normal.
I agree Eklund and Guenther are rational picks, but with Karlson, Burns and Vlasic being old and expensive I can absolutely see all-or-nothing selection. It is all about a cup.

Everyone says it's a weak draft but 5 years from now when 5 back end first rounder are going to play top line/pair and 25 guys found after the fifth round are going to play top 6/4 because of a lack of scouting we'll see it was the same kind of draft as usual. Players who haven't been able to play -or barely- are big dark horses.

Dallas needs defense? Yeah Klingberg is a free agent next year and who knows if Oleksiak will resign here but I think you still take the best player available unless you have a defense like Jersey or Arizona (where like half are free agents right now) then maybe you pick what you need.

It is the weakest draft since....2020.
