But why would Parise wanna terminate a contract that owes him so much $$$ still???
There’s no way he does that- NONE

And with him having an NMC, you’re likely stuck with him

Yeah honestly you're not even getting all of the assets in the original deal, let alone Boldy instead.

He’s owed 6 mil this year and 2,2,1. The cash is relatively low and it looks like he won’t play in the role he wants in MIN. This is how he’s able to find that elsewhere, there’s a chance he’s terminated by the Wild.

Still blows my mind that people think Eichel isn’t worth that…

A player of his caliber, age and term legit hasn’t been traded in 15yrs…. Closest is Seguin and Eichel is a far superior player

I'm not talking about what he may or may not be worth, I'm talking about what Buffalo is going to get for him this summer. And it is nowhere near Fiala+Rossi+Boldy+1st.

I’ve got to second the idea that both Boldy and Rossi is to much. I threw in the 2nd 1st as compensation for holding Parise’s cap hit after the buyout. I do think another prospect in the Firstov/Giroux range is a no brainer.

The prevailing narrative that the Sabres will get less for him is also insane. 5 yrs 10M per, Eichel isn’t sitting out and missing that. Sabres have all the leverage

They have leverage. By no means do they have “all” of it, prolonging the situation only makes the return worse.

Depends on how you define less. Less than Sabres fans want? Most likely. Less than market value? Nigh impossible, because whatever he actually gets is the market value for him.

Sabres leverage is running out. His NMC kicks in next year, and the chances of him being a deadline move are close to nothing. So they've got about 3 months of leverage left, and when you have teams like LA and NY reported to be out, their leverage drops some more.

Here’s what I don’t understand about the NMCpoint…The ultimate goal is to keep jack eichel bc hes a great player. If you play chicken with him and you keep him to the point where his NMC kicks in and he still hates it here, why on gods green earth would he turn down any trade to go elsewhere?

Like I get if he has preferences on where to go, but if he really hates being a Sabre as much as it appears (and how much everyone on this website says he does as justification for awful trade packages) then you would think that he would waive the NMC and the Sabres can move him anywhere….

He still gets paid the same amount. The NMC gives him and the team he wants to go to all of the leverage unless he opens the bidding, which doesn’t make sense because you get a NMC to chose where you play.

The Wild won't give you all three of Fiala, Rossi, and Boldy. Even 2 of the 3 is unlikely. Whether Eichel is worth that or not, I don't know. But I do know the Wild won't pay it

I love this idea and I've been wondering if a team like Buffalo does it with a cost. It makes a ton of sense. IF you are going young and wanting to develop talent, having a contract like Parise's to count towards the floor would be huge for them. They are gaining extra assets to fill that roster out as well. I believe this is a huge win for the Wild and giving an extra 1st is worth it to the Wild long term. It gets you out of having to wait for his contract to come off the books to compete. I'm good giving up the 2 firsts this year and next year. We won't be in the running for Shane Wright who I would love to get but having Kap on this team we won't be bad enough for that to happen. I would like to see trades after this to really see what happens with our roster and obtaining picks if need be. 10/10 originality! Love the Parise buyout from Buffalo idea. I think it's realistic as well

Not if he refuses to report to the team and play.
