Duchene

Créé par: Billy739
Équipe: 2021-22 Canadiens de Montréal
Date de création initiale: 5 juin 2021
Publié: 5 juin 2021
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Daunault re-signs for 3.95 for 4 years
Full NMC year 1&2 with MNTC year 3&4 with 15 team exemption list.
1.5m paid in Signing bonus 2/4 seasons

MTL doesnt have to twist Krakken's arm to take Byron

There's tons of better D and Goalie options in the expansion and Free Agency
What there isnt a ton of is Speedster PK specialists with a knack for scoring or assisting on Short Handed Goals. Most of the forwards avail are 2nd/3rd line forwards anyways but few offer the leadership ontop of the skills that Byron has.

Suzuki has been moved to Wing for a Reason
We ruined Galchenyuk trying to force him to learn Center before he established himself as a goal scorer and solid winger first. He struggled because we put him in that position and thrived in TML because they did not.

I am not ok with continuing this trend when we dont have to.
IF one day after playing with Duchene he develops into a Elite player then Elite Center... GREAT!

But we wont force this on him any longer.

Lehkonen is a good player who does everything but score goals consistently. Solid defensive player and always a force on the PK

NSH accepts. I don't know that they have a spot for Lehkonen, but even if they can't flip him they could just let him become a UFA, if it comes down to it.

It's a minor thing, but your condition on the 2021 pick couldn't happen, as Duchene can't play any games for MTL until next season.

Danault wants control more then money
always has since he played here in my home town
you give him the power to have 4 years of Stability reasonable he'll take it

That said i can give him more with stipulations like NMC or NTC
Same as TBL could have with Palat,Killorn ,Johnson ,Gourde and likely more middle 6 guys to come.
Danault can test free agency but there's no guarantee he'll ever play as big of a role on a playoff read team by demanding more.

He should heed Duchene's deal which has made him a burden
Better to be under paid and happy then over paid and miserable.

Suzuki sucks at center period
He wasnt playing center in Junior
He wasnt playing Center in Memorial cup when he lead the league in points by a decent amount

His Style was always built to play wing
He'll never improve at faceoffs nor will he progress as a elite scorer if like Galchenyuk he's Forced to

Danault wants a top 6 role more than money or control. Montreal can't give him that. Slim chance he re-signs there. He's likely gone this off-season.

Wait they're potentially trading 1st rounders (albeit late ones) for Duchene with negligible retention? Do they have a time machine or. A magic elixir or uh...

I mean that time machine would solve a lot of issues

Which segues into them already having so much bad money like even the Gallagher deal on top the big 3 is looking not great I can't believe this was suggested

Join us in this year please

He ran his mouth about that turning down a 5 million dollar 4 year extension
Then he had the worst start to his career and 25 game goalless drought after a pitiful playoff series.
He then went on to French Media about how where he played wasnt important and he wanted to retire a habs.

Soon as he humbled himself he found success again
There was talks during his struggles about Staal replacing him on 3rd line and Danault being bumped to 4th.

That said about 10 games after we got a new coach his minutes were back to what we expect.
So possibly it could have been partially Claude Julien lost faith in him

Either way i doubt he rocks the boat
Not a Single Contender in any league has the money and the position to give Danault what he said he wanted in that butt hurt interview where he mouthed off because he was bumped from 1st back down to 3rd where he started. I think he also realized that what he wants means going the Antoine Vermette route to an ARZ and hoping he can be picked up by a contender as a depth piece

His Speed and PP presence is the main factor im considering
Also in COL he had league best face off Numbers with a Defensive Faceoff Center similar to Danault behind him.
Im not promising the offense he once had
I do feel however he's a threat teams have to cover who can gain possession for guys like Toffoli and Suzuki who now have more room to work

Now that said i did prepare the conditional picks as insurance for NSH incase Duchene like Petry , Radulov, Tatar ,Duchene, and now Anderson/Toffoli did after arriving.

Even if he is
His Faceoff Ability alone is worth it
Like Danault he's taking faceoffs vs the leagues best and winning.

But really his Speed fits our system and he's a good 2nd PP option.
Even if he doesnt succeed ... in this system those around him will as long as he's healthy

Weber's gone after next year
he'll be in the final 4 year stretch where he's only owe 6m over 4 years
Easy Buyout for those gambling on him
For expansion teams with limited Salary getting a player that cheap even with a high cap will be worth it.

The rest we're stuck with but Weber i've always said will be moved by 2023 when it becomes feasible to do so.

The issue with that is that times fast approaching and we still havent got a RD to groom as his successor.
Its why i kept making the Seidier trades with ARZ

In a world where hockey players are pretty tight lipped about not wanting to re-sign, this is pretty telling. Looks like he's as good as gone and if you're offer is under $4M like you've offered and for only 4 years, then he's definitely gone.

Certainly the Habs can find better ways spend over 7m per than Duchene. And to give up picks too?

Your source is as outdated as you and i touched on it
I wont waste my breathe again

August 20th 2020 is when the article was posted.
After a 25 games goaless streak and being demoted to 4th line at one point
His tune changed , he suddenly would play any role and wanted to retire here.

Why?

Its clear he realized that was his career high
He's not a #1 guy because he isnt consistent unless Gallagher is there.
Without Gallagher he was nothing and when Gallaghers out he's back to being nothing .

Gallaghers injury reminded him of that

Regardless i gave him 4.75m yestarday just to keep you quiet.
Its not the reality of the situation and you're ignoring him humbling himself mid season after letting the team down.
But whatever its virtual money who cares , MTL will sign him for around or under 4m just like i said

Or they'll let him walk and he can not win a cup somewhere else
We dont need him that bad , you can teach defense as seen by Danaults emergence in MTL
You cant teach offense which is something he cant produce consistently as of late.

Maybe its time to just find Evans a Mentor like Chucky had with Eller.
Mikael Granlund makes sense
He'll sign for the cap we need and offers more than Danault can as he's willing to play Center or Wing(has no ego)

lmaoooooo imagine trading for a guy who is 7M+ and had 13 pts this year and was injured Again!!!, hes hit over 50pt ONCE in the last 7 years. Suzuki struggles in the faceoff circles that's it he's drastically improved on D is playing PK now and puts up pts, when he is struggling DD puts Danault to take the draws. 0 and I mean 0 chance MTL does this, they are not using their Cap on a dead weight C who hasn't played a full season since 2015.
