Why would a player sign an offer sheet for that much—knowing fully that it would cripple that team's ability to ice a roster with any competitive depth? Especially under the flat cap.

Also—say goodbye to Suzuki the next off-season when a team offer sheets him. And Caufield the year after that. GMs across the league would retaliate for a market-altering offer sheet like that.

Also why did you stop at $15.5 million on Pettersson? Why not go for the full 20% of the cap?
