I just think the expectation that a team will gut their prospect pool for any single player completely ridiculous. Regardless of how good that player is. I mean just look at the Lindros trade, Colorado won a couple cups, Philly got nothing. Even Edmonton won a cup without Gretzky after trading him. No single player is bigger than the team in my opinion. I think Minnesota should target a guy like Danault and like above shore up the wing depth with someone like Coleman. Those moves only cost money and make the team better, while not torching their prospect pool. Then in another year Rossi takes a top 6 spot and they’re set.

It’s one prospect a late first and a 2021 2nd. Along with a cap dump, Dumba who isn’t really good and Fiala, that’s not a lot. And it’s definitely worth it.

No, but he's not worth giving up a great 2nd pair D (even if he's slightly overpaid), top line wing, potential top line center, 1st, and 2nd for. If this is the asking price I hope we stay far away. Eichel is one of my favorite players in the NHL, but he has a major injury (hasn't had a single full season in the NHL) and you can't help but worry a little bit about his character. I'd love to have him but this is just way too much, his value is at an all time low at this point. I feel bad for Sabres fans, this whole situation is extremely unfortunate.

To you it’s not a lot. But from what I’ve seen it was good enough to get the Wild in the playoffs and go head to head with Vegas. Rossi is a fantastic center prospect who likely will be a 1C for Minny. Fiala has been pretty great for them this year as well.

Less so than before the playoffs, but I do think Fiala could be on the table for Eichel. I'd hate to see it though, he's matured a ton since he first got here and has mude a genuine effort to become great in his own zone.

What’s his character issues? Being mad over he had hart votes and they missed the 24 team playoffs? Or having a second opinion about his own body.

The fact he has made this whole situation public and how it's all about him. I get it, he wants to win and he's concerned about his career in Buffalo, but in the hockey culture that's a concern whether you agree with it or not.

Personally, I will never fault a guy for looking out for himself, but in the hockey world everyone wants team-first guys that will do whatever it takes to win and is humble in the process. I don't know what it takes to build a winner, I'm just an armchair GM, but I do know that much brighter hockey minds than myself have concern over the way he has gone about this situation, so that gives me at least some concern.

He’s literally wants surgery that he thinks will make him
the best player once returning which would help the team win. The Eichel being a “bad leader and cancer” narrative is so weird his teammates speak highly of him as a leader and a good person outside of hockey. He even helps the younger players after practice with one timers and other skills. There should be absolutely no concerns about his character issues.

This is just it. It’s hard to see a man Eichel trade that doesn’t include Fiala and Rossi, and it’s hard to see how Eichel improves the overall situation without Fiala and Rossi.

Eichel is great but also the worst move the wild could make. Grow away the future for one player. Not worth what listed here by a long shot. It’s like 2-3 years worth of picks prospects and player development for one guy

I do think a move around Kuznetzov would make a lot of sense though, brings in another Russian for Kaprizov to play with and he is a legitimate 1C. I could see Washington having interest in the capspace or Dumba too

I actually don’t mind it, but the Wild aren’t deep enough on the wings or on the backend to make this make sense. None of this even accounts for the likely cap issues we would be in. It would probably be more of a lateral move than anything, but it’s the kind of convo that happens when you don’t have any centers.

He made it public bc it's the best way to get out of dodge where the Pegulas are concerned...see ROR and E Kane. The kicker was the Sabres were within their rights according to the CBA. Jack somehow failed to mention that in his exit speech and as far as I've seen he has had no rebuttal when Adams explained the organizations rights according to the CBA.

Rossi and Fiala are borderline untouchable, Rask and Dumba will be easily replaced by Rossi and Addison. The 2022 first would need to be lottery protected as well.

That's not a huge loss, the wild will be so much better in the long run if they keep and develop their prospects than go all in on Eichel.
