Oilers offseason

Créé par: cpg74
Équipe: 2021-22 Oilers d'Edmonton
Date de création initiale: 25 mai 2021
Publié: 28 mai 2021
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Update - increased $ for Tatar & Bozak. Buyout koskinen, bury Turris & trade Jones.

LW - Revamp completely with size, 5x5 scoring and players from successful organizations. Nosek & Tatar have ties to Holland.
C - A rightie > 50% on draws and playoff success. That's why I chose B over Sutter, Glendening. Enough of Leon on draws on the Pk. If I'm low on $$, there's still enough to go $2.5 or $3 for Bozak
Healthy scratches - Kahun & Shore can play middle or bottom 6. They're plug n' play.
D - I think we need to add experience from playoff teams. I also think we need some wingspan. TML, Jets and Mtl all have tall, good skating D with long reaches. Might not be improtant in regular season when the rulebook is the rulebook, but certainly helps in playoff hockey.
G - Smith deserves a raise.

Great job. I like the lineup. But if I am Tartar I am asking for more term and Bozak might be a touch low, considering Glendenning is 1.9 and Bozak is a better player.

Detroit just isn't interested in Koskinen they have 2 goalies who are both better than Koskinen this season.

Glendening's $1.8M contract was signed 4 years ago, its not relevant at all.

"Detroit just isn't interested in Koskinen they have 2 goalies who are both better than Koskinen this season."

I guess I should've explained that move......
Detroit just meant to be the intermediary in moving Koskinen. The idea is Detroit has money and isn't a cap team. They take Koskinen and Jones. Flip Koskinen to another team for a late pick and retain $1.5M. Whatever, maybe they only trade a 5th , 6th or 7th in the deal to Edmonton. IT really doesn't matter.
Third team gets a backup for $1,5M for a very late draft pick.
Wings trades a late pick for a late pick. Could be up a round or down a round.

Essentially Detroit buys Caleb Jones for $1.5M for being the third party. Anther squad gets Koskinen @ $1.5M and a late pick.

Needed someone who is looking for youngish assets, has money and cap space. Could be Detroit, could be someone else. If it doesnt work..... Edmonton can buy out Koskinen instead of Turris. Theres enough money for that....

sure. I think there's enough money for Bozak is 35 or 36.... be nervous with much more than @$2.5. What if he get Belanger-Turris syndrome. Might have to be heavy on the performance bonus?

Tatar....term is important cause I dont wanna block Holloway. If we have Tatar, Coleman and Nosek on LW.... 97, 29 and McLeod at C.... . where's Holloway go? That's why the 1 year was critical on Tatar.

He has gotten better on faceoffs and besides the one of last year, he has put up similar numbers and taking more D zone draws and better defensively.

Well its only 2 years and depends on the buyout structure.
I think Turris is only 200k buyout

The contract is not relevant though. He was 28 at the time, Bozak is 35. Glendening was signed as the cap was rising, now were in a flat cap environment. The two players are totally different too...

Likely pre.
Detroit has only 2 D undercontract. So can afford to protect Jones. But I'm not sure how the protecting RFAs works.... I guess Cholowski & Hronek are concerns. But Detroit also has to make a goalie available. Right now, they don't have one, I think. Unless one of their European minor leaguers qualifies. So it would help them that way too?

Could also be post. Assuming Jones slips through expansion. If he doesn't then you could sub in Benson....or another prospect.

Jones is an okay prospect but Detroit has his quality in spades same with Benson. For Detroit’s expansion it’s some combination of Hronek, Stetcher, Lindstrom, and Cholowski. Lindstrom’s stats don’t jump off the page as he’s a stay at home D. You also have to protect unsigned RFAs which is why I asked. 1.5M isn’t a whole lot but it takes one of three retained slots and facilitated a trade that doesn’t really make us better. I also know the prospects I’d want would cost more and same goes with the picks. Plus it seems like Holland is going to buyout someone or multiple.

I think it could easily be after cause Edmonton can protect Nurse, Bear, Jones...sign Larsson after expansion. But it could also be a different team like LA or NJ.
