Description
SJS is trying to clear out some cap, a lot of talk of moving burns to seattle. But that will cost prob a 1st and SJS prob doesnt want to move another 1st. The other issue is that there arent a lot of RD1s on the market for PHI to acquire.

You're not crazy, but youre not sane....

Burns, other than being a RD, is not of any interest to PHI. They don;t lack puck rushing, producing defensemen, they lack a more stay at home, defensive dman at RD.

And Burns at 6mil until his legs fall off, is probably of no interest to PHI. 36 yrs old and 4 more seasons of 6mil sounds risky at best... Weber would be a better fit at same age and a bit more $

As for the other moves, Goodrow would fit well in Philly, but cant see Ghost on Taxi Squad (will there be one next season?) instead of playing still cost 3mil plus. If anything Ghost gets 3LD and Hagg is 7th dman. Cant see Tanner L as 4th line C, not with Foerster and Frost in system.

But its a no on Burns

Wouldn't that be something, for Philly to get the last few years of the Weber deal that they signed him to!

Forget the rest of the roster for a minute. The point wasnt really about hagg over ghost or laczynski over frost/foerster.
I hear what youre saying about burns but what other RD1 is available?

I have contemplated something like Burns for Voracek as they both have the same contract but Burns will be 40 by the time his is over so I think we would be looking for someone younger that can play with Provy for a long time.

Sharks aren’t paying to move Burns retained. Either your paying for retained or we are maybe paying for you to take full price. Burns has value he’s not James Neal

You ask whatever 1RD are available?

David Savard, Brandon Montour are two UFAs that might fit the bill. But again PHI has played Sanheim/York/Ghost at RD, so maybe Philly is looking for a 2RD and a solid crease clearing 3LD like UFA Oleksiak.

Theres rumoured available 1RD in Risto from BUF, Dumba from MIN, Manson from ANA, Weber from MTL. And these guys for one reason or another are not worth tons in trade.

All these guys above are cheaper and much younger than Burns, (not to mention, some are far more suitable for what Philly needs).

If the entire exercise of the above is for Burns, I'm just saying hes not what PHI needs and at his age/contract - not what they want.

I hear what Dangles is saying above about Voracek for Burns, but lets face it, Voracek is still producing at a 65+ pt pace, has no injury history, 5 yrs younger AND just 3 yrs left compared to Burns 4. So IMO, Voracek is worth far more than Burns, beacuasde hes a far better bet to keep his health and production. And again Burns isn;t what PHILLY needs.

Sharks aren’t gonna pay to give you Burns with retention. Without any retention he is very much still a positive impact player, but I’d be willing to forget that and pretend he’s pretty much worth nothing because of his cap hit and term. But retention and the Sharks paying isn’t happening.

I hear what youre saying except savard/mintour are very much not RD1s. Neither really is risto but even so hes worse defensively than burns so that doesnt make any sense. Dumba is the only one (ill admit i missed him) but do the wild really want to move him, and if so what will it cost.
