Kylington was on waivers and Winnipeg had a chance to get him for free. After not playing almost all year they won't be trading a 2nd for him

thats not an excuse, he was on waivers for 1 day with 100 other players when every team was cap crunching and choosing their day 1 rosters

Reinhart and healthy Monahan are similar caliber players but Monahan is strictly at center. adding a recent 1st that is probably making the NHL next year and a high 2nd is just bad resource management

Tbh, Kylington is probably only worth a 6th or a 7th now.

If it was any normal years, Sabers would do Monahan for Reinhart straight up. But because Reinhart had a good season this year and Monahan's injury, it's different.

Them massively overrating Reinhart doesn't make it a good deal. I wouldn't trade Monahan for Reinhart 1 for 1.

But why would the Flames?

That doesnt mean the Flames add a top prospect like Pelletier. Florida's 2nd is the max i would add

Realistically, Reinhart only has one year left and has hinted he prefers a team out west and Monahan has term and will probably rebound. Reinhart is a right shot they need.

Having said that , Reinhart is young, highly effective, and as a bonus is a right shot with the versatility to play center or wing which makes him even more valuable. Even if he is only on your team for a year, He returns a conditional future first, roster player like a Mangiapane and a prospect. Interest would be high around the league. Zary would probably be the ask.

Buffalo would probably need to take money back, I could see Lucic being apart of the deal with Buffalo acting as a third team to retain half his remaining contract and trace him out so Calgary can clear space. There’s even potential here for a side deal with Seattle for the flames to protect a fourth defenseman which could include Buffalo.

I think Reinhart to Calagary is far far far more likely then Eichel to Calgary.

You’ll likely need at least one top asset to get Reinhart if he’s the target. Any additional first rounders will likely be conditional like if Calgary makes the playoffs and Reinhart signs an extension and/or Buffalo takes back a contract like Lucic (Lucic would also need to waive and o think he would if Buffalo traded him immediately as a third team and retained half his salary). I could see buffalo being interested in something like that. If I’m Calgary, I’d much rather have Sam instead of Jack and I think he would sign an extension there easily

Reinhart doesnt make Calgary a contender, Eichel does have that ability. Calgary should definitely be in on Eichel before Reinhart. That price you are asking for Reinhart is absurd though. If you dont want a Monahan package max offer you get from the Flames is Dube and 2022 1st (lotto protected)

Nope, Starts with Zary if we’re dealing with Calgary. There will be league wide interest for him and his value will never be higher. His ability to play center will also interest teams who are desperate for help down the middle. No way we give him away for Dube.

And Eichel doesn’t make you a contender either if you’re giving up all of your depth and cap space to acquire him, and with him on the roster, thing will get tight and shallow in Calgary very quickly

His ability to play center on the Sabres doesnt mean that much, he is a winger on any competing team, especially with names like RNH, Danault, and Krejci hitting UFA this summer, and Eichel and Kuzy potentially on the block. Not to mention he basically demanded a trade

Has anyone pointed out that we could just wait a year for reinhart to force his way out and then sign him as a UFA in a year? Dunno why people never account for the term monahan has, the positional advantage, or how monahan has the top 5 goal scoring seasons and 5 of the top 6 point scoring seasons between the two of them lol. Not to mention Reinhart basically demanding a trade. Monahan for Reinhart really isn’t close, and Buffalo should definitely be the one adding, I’m sick of people overvaluing a good second line winger like come on

Why would Reinhart want to sign in Calgary? Reinhart had just 3 less goals than Monahan had points this season by the way so it's more than fair and Calgary should add
