The only one I wouldnt do is the Drouin trade. Rather have his contract be done and free up cap space next off season then take on Zucker

Zucker has been underperforming since being in Pitts, you could potentially get another guy like Tatar coming to Montreal. I like that trade from all sides; Both teams are trading away underperforming guys and Drouin gets the peace of mind because he won't be THE guy anymore.

This may be an unpopular post (and I haven't read anything about this, so it's my take), but I think Drouin has played his last game as a Hab. He is still young enough to play well on a team that is further away from the bright lights of Montreal. There are certain players (and contracts) that teams will want to get rid of, and I could see Drouin and a pick going one way for one of them.

Many people hate on the guy, but it truly isn't his fault he was traded to Montreal. It may have been his fault that he was traded, but not his fault that he went to Montreal. Looking back on the trade is playing revisionist historian, and I don't want to do that (not as fun). smile

Not even about rebounding, rather just have the 5.5 in cap space add in the cap space from the Seattle contract being taken away and the Habs could have over 10 million to spend. Think that could be more useful with the cap finally rising a bit next off season

Your assuming Seattle will take Drouin (If Im understanding correctly). They'll need the cap space also and taking 5.5M for a guy that just had to leave the game for personal reasons is a huge risk for them also.

Plus both guys have exactly the same term. We're just swapping Drouin with Zucker. That's it. Now if you come to me and say "Hey I'll give you a draft pick and a prospect for Drouin" I'll take that over this for sure but seeing the way the cap is and teams are tight, I think very few teams will take on 5.5M without giving any back. So simply unloading 5.5M isn't realistic IMO. Habs are really at a disadvantage too if Drouin demands a trade out if that's what he wants. they'll basically HAVE to take back a bad contract in order to get something with value with it. If thats the case, I prefer Zucker.

Zucker isn't old, fits MMTLs style and system perfectly and essentially swaps out one problem in Drouin for a player with a fresh start at zero cost to them. It might not be the best option but if its the only option, I'll take it.
