I don't see Staal signing another contract -- maybe, but he's definitely lost a step. And Johns is a question mark too. I'd consider some other players for 3C and that 3rd D pair.

Maybe Nosek, Haula, Bozak, Bonino, or someone for that 3C.
Maybe Merrill, Hutton, Vatanen, Gustafsson, Nemeth, or Forbort for that 3rd D pair.

Haula is good fit. Would be the most expensive I think. And we need someone right handed for 3rd d

Donato isn't good enough defensively to be a center in Boston. You're barking up the wrong tree w/ Donato and Boston. Think about it, a local kid with ties to the organization and they traded him less than a year after he signed in ELC.....after 46 NHL games they saw all they needed to see in order to realize Donato wasn't part of their future.

Boston has no use/need/room for him.

Doubt the bruins would take him for free. Value is fine, i just highly doubt they want the player at all.
