This is solid, but 5 out of your 6 d men are really offensively oriented. First step, get Quinn Hughes out of there. So over hyped. With how horrible he is at everything but the offensive game, he can’t be a .75 point per game guy and make a team like this. I don’t think he’s even considered. Probably the 12th or so guy they look at. Slavin is a good choice to replace him.

I would also have tkachuk on a higher line, and i think garland might make the team over Keller.

I keep saying it. Don't sleep on Rust. My man is a 30+ goal scorer. He's fast, can play defense, very under rated guy. He's the kind of team guy you need to go all out and win.

I’m not saying fox is bad defensively or anything. He’s a good all around d man, but i do think his game is oriented towards offense. Do you disagree with that?

I completely forgot Larkin and I don't think Gaudreau misses because he's not good but because all the young players will take a pretty big leap by that time
for the Dmen, I cannot in good conscience put Petry over any of these guys so you're stuck with at least 2 lines where it's offensive dmen cause that's all the US have honestly. Unless a player like Carlo takes a massive leap, I don't see how you can make this defense more defensive
also sorry Pens fans but you overrate Guentzel and Rust, they're not better than any forward on this team cause they're definitely not better than Gaudreau who would be the last cut.

So - not really, no. Unless you want to define offensively oriented as anything but exactly as good on O as D. But I don't think more or less any of the defensemen we recognize as top 20 or so actually provide better defense than offense. I think both McAvoy and Fox are primarily playdrivers, who are defensively solid. I'm not seeing why you'd use 5/6 as an arbitrary cut-off at least, saying that McAvoy is good enough on D but Fox isn't.

This isn’t my team, I’m not using 5/6 as a cut off. Hughes doesn’t even get a call to try out for my team. Krug probably is an extra. Werenski is borderline.

Alright - my issue is this post: Offensively oriented doesn't really mean anything then? 6/6 defensemen can be offensively oriented and you can still be great defensively. I think McAvoy is offensively oriented in the sense that his best skill is driving offense. He's not supressing opponent shots as much as he turns defense into offense. That's something Fox does really well too. I guess I don't see the large distinction between these two players and why one should count for defense but not the other. That's it.
