Pettersson alone should get you Hall on an expiring deal, and if you wanna retain $4M with Buffalo an extra 3rd should so it. and then another 4th or 5th to Detroit. for retaining another $2M. That's based on the Lehner trade to Toronto last year where T.O 3rd party ate 2.5M for a 5th.

Not that I agree with the value but your figures are off. Toronto retained a 1.1M cap charge and 190k in cash for the 5th. This scenario is odd because Buffalo would bring doing the bulk of the retention but for the same compensation.

You're right i read the trade wrong on Lehners trade history, But still imo It should be
Buffalo Retains: $4M, gets Pettersson and 3rd. Gives up Hall
Detroit Retains $2M gets 4th round pick
Pitt gets Hall $2M, gives up Pettersson 3rd round pick, 4th round pick
