I'll be honest. I am rooting against a Wood trade unless it's a steal. Nothing against him, but considering he would presumably displace someone else I don't see it being worth the cost.

If Compher is going the other way then maybe I'm open. I don't think that's the case though, consisting NJ was scouting the Avs when he was out.

thats sort of my thinking as well. I dont love the idea of woods bc more of the same that avs already have and right now they have too much of the same clogging up the middle 6. But if compher is moved in this deal, sure you can see some of the benefits attached of reshuffling the deck a bit.

With the “Coleman” Price Being thrown Around what prospects would you give up?

    Reminder this is my opinion

    It’s either a
    2nd B+ prospect
    3rd A- prospect
    A+ prospect

You aren’t getting an A+ prospect for Woods, TBL made the Coleman trade as much for his contract as his play. I think a 3rd and an NHL ready prospect is fair, though you might be able to coax that 2nd out because of the flat cap. I’m like @Anus_McLeod Woods just doesn’t warrant the investment it would take.

What's the reason for Wood's increased offensive production this year? Better linemates?

He got new personal trainers over the summer and has become more mature as a player, taking less unnecessary penalties. He's also producing very well with limited ice time. He was mostly on the 4th line this season but was moved up after Nico's injury

They have a cheaper version of Woods they need to find more ice time for in LOC.

Bowers + 2nd or if it involves Compher as he's the odd man out, would have to be him or Donskoi anyway, both really 3RW.

Not saying I'd do it but guessing that's around the right value.

Yeah I think I agree with that. Compher would need to go the other way for a roster space to open up, as well as to open capspace for next season. Acquiring Wood would make it harder to resign Saad as well.

Ignoeing the price tag though, as a general fit in the Avs style though it would be a solid acquisition given his speed.

I like the idea of swapping a RHS RW for LW, as there's a bit of a log-jam on the right with Donskoi, Compher, O'Connor, and Kaut; along with Rantanen, Burakovsky, Saad, and Nichuskin all of who like playing RW on their off-side. Swapping a RW for a LW would restore some balance to the bottom 9.

Compher plus 2nd maybe? Bearing in mind what we've already discussed at length as to Compher being/not being a cap dump.

Oh I know this, wouldn't hurt to try it though with the 2023. Either that or Compher plus a second tier prospect in a position of need for the Devils.

He’s one of the older guys on the team and he really committed himself to being a more disciplined player. Put a ton of work in in the off season. Doesn’t take stupid penalties anymore which has earned the coaches trust. Also gets PP time in the bumper role.
