Obviously I think the Leafs have a strong chance of competing this year. A rough 10 game patch does not define the season.
Having said that, I do like how young our core still is and that with a potential upgrade in goal and on third line center we really look like a sustained threat for years to come.
Kerfoot on LTIR as I think he's Seattle's choice. If not him, it's Dermott and we package him a trade somewhere no matter what. With his salary only $2.7m for the next two years, he's actually a fairly strong trade chip for non-cap teams who can use some speed and skill up front.

I think the Hawks will take Kerfoot off your hands. I just wouldn't expect them to do TOR any favors. Hint hint...one team needs something and the other is helping out. The team helping out will win in long term value as long as the team looking to win now...wins in short term value.
