- trade this years first for two seconds to use for Elvis and Neal trades
- keep koski as still a good 1B or very good back up even if the contract is a bit rich.
- signing of Lafallo could be a great fit for either the 1st or 2nd LW. Start him off w McDavid as he his strengths are speed and two-way game (can help cover for mcdavid cherry picking or Jesse still developing his game). Lafallo is also starting to score more each year, so must be finding more confidence in his shot. From what what I’ve read, he is good finding loose pucks in front of the net/cycle the puck out of corners etc.
- trade bear for Eakins to get a decent third line center. Hurts to loose bear, but a swap of two struggling players w reasons to believe both will rebound.
- 3rd line hard working, hits with a little more offensive abilities by adding Pearson on the left
- A re-vamped 4th that’s also hard working. Glendining finally gives the oil a much needed right handed center that can win draws. Not much offence on this line, but not many 4th lines do. All three players like to hit though and are defensive minded
- sign Barrie to a two year deal so his contract and klefbomb’s contract end in two years, exactly when Bouchard will need a raise. Barrie is exactly the offensive puck moving Dman Edmonton has been looking for, for years.
- klefbomb is reportedly having surgery this spring and as long as he recovers, can assume he will give it one more try to see if his shoulder is fixed. May only last half the season but think he starts the year and can always put on LTIR if he doesn’t play and bring in a stop-gap 2nd line LD w similar contract price if needed.
- bring back Larson who’s having a good year. D-corps need a veteran defensive d man which Larson fits this bill at a more reasonable avg to what he brings. Could be a two year contract as well for long term outlook reasons. And before anyone says $3m is too much for a 3rd line dman, I view the 2nd and 3rd d-lines as 2a and 2b d lines that split time on ice a little more evenly, so Larson isn’t a true 3rd line d man.
- d core is the best Edmonton have had for years
- sign all the kids/prospects to Bakersfield to continue to develop, learn to play together, and continue to over-ripen for 1 more year. This includes Halloway that some believe is already ready for the big leagues (AHL is still a better league then university league so still lots he can prove in this league + broberg and the Russian goalie coming over from Sweden/Russia to adjust to playing on the smaller ice)
- despite not having many draft picks in 2021, prospect pool not looking too bad with savoie, tullio, halloway, lavoie, Marody, macloed, broberg, samorukova all showing promise.
- have all our own picks for 2022 and on to continue building farm
- taxi squad even has decent depth
Any team really. Juju could use a fresh start and can still be a good productive 4th liner. Potential teams: Buffalo, Ottawa, Nashville, Columbus. If you can’t find a trade partner, put him on waivers and eventually burry the contract in the AHL (where he could provide leadership) if needed
Retain $1.5m and add the second round pick making neals contract much more appealing. Neal at $4.25M + a second might be enough for a rebuilding team to add him to their team. He can still be a decent third liner and provide leadership given the right situation. Might need to be a 3 way trade involving Chicago retaining more given recent rumours of them willing to do so to use up their approx $27m LTIR this year and seabrooks LTIR hit for next year
Trade rights to Kahun for a 4th as can’t fit him on the team anymore (just good asset management). If you can’t get a puck for him, let him turn into a ufa. Could be to any team
Don't see CBj accepting that trade or Getting Pearson at that cheap I think the Canucks are actively trying to keep Pearson and I don't see him leaving for that money
Fair enough - but this is all for the 2021/22 season so could wait till the draft to decide and all trades can occur afterwards
If Edmonton has the 20th pick (1st rounder) and rangers have the 43rd pick (2nd round) would you do it? Aka 20th for 43rd and 51st for example?
Yes. But I doubt Holland would because the value favors the Wings. The 43+51 is worth approximately the 31 or 32 according to Eric Tulsky's Pick value chart.
I dont understand why people think larsson deserves a cut in pay while giving nuge a raise. From my eye larsson has been earning his wage more consistently than nuge has. I’d keep jj and not bother with glendening.
Holland already said that the odds of Klefbom playing next season is slim to none. He hasn't even had his surgery yet and it could be late summer even possible early fall and take up to 8 months recovery time.
