You do understand the only way Detroit gets picks or young forwards in this years TDL is to take on a contract. There is no cap. The first and the fact that Johnson has experience and all of Detroit's veteran are UFA's takes care of that contract.

Bobby Ryan’s contract is 1M and Glendening is 1.8M but that’s the entire year since it will be prorated. They’re currently 457k and 822k and can still be retained so yeah teams can afford them unless they went over the cap ceiling using LTIR without taking cap space back.

I wouldn’t trade Stetcher for 2x thirds. Not even close. He’s been our second best defensemen and is signed for next year cheap also.
