No way is Ottawa trading a valuable part of their lineup and retaining for 2.5 years and not getting a 1st back.

Why is Connor brown worth a 4th as a maple leaf and a 1st as a senator. Asking for a friend.

As a Wing's fan I'd take Dermott for a 5th, but would Toronto really accept a 5th for Dermott?

Nope, I’m talking about his value on this site. It’s hillarious.

Brown is worth a 2nd, try and say that when he was a leaf and you get gang piled with 4th and 5th.

Give him the exact same value to get him back and now he is worth a 1st...

Has zaitsev really been that horrible? I always thought he was okay. Brown and a 3rd to get rid of zaitsev which I look at as a 2nd and 3rd. Zaitsev can play hockey but he requested a trade and was a bit overpaid. Ottawa needed the Rhd.

People change and players change, is EK worth stutzle, norris and whatever else the sharks gave up 2 years ago? no ofc not, hes probably not even worth norris alone at this point. Brown got a bigger role in ottawa and handled it very well, is terrific on the PK and signed a friendly deal for 3.5x3. If the sens retain 1.5m like in this scenario and hes worth 2x2, for a solidifed middle 6 forward someone would probably offer a first. He might end up only being worth a second, but not the leafs second imo

Zaitsev has been fine(ish) although this is easily his best season in Ottawa so far

Brown was always the sweetener to take Zaitsev's contract. Up until this year Zaitsev's been bad but the reason the Leafs needed to get rid of his contract so badly was because of the term attached to the dollars. Ottawa took a flier on Zaitsev and his 5 years of bad contract in hopes that a change of scenery would turn his play around but Connor Brown was the insurance policy.

Two 2nds for Brown might be fair but definitely not with 1.6 retained for over 2 years.

Because he's shown he's more valuable, and more deserving of a larger role than he was afforded in Toronto. The Sens Don't need to trade him the same way the Leafs did, and and things like cap space and salary retention are coming at a major premium in a flat cap league where teams are all losing money.

Connor Brown is an extremely useful player, Ottawa isn't trading him just to trade him. Plus it's the Leafs so they'd definitely have to go above and beyond.

Hirvonen is a great prospect, and the 2022 pick is in a better draft.

TOR would be better suited to give up a 2021 1st for Brown

No he hasn’t... he was blocked on the leafs and is producing at the same rate per 60... if not worse.

Like I said... leafs thing that doesn’t exist in real life.
