Best bet for the penguins is to keep him and hope he turns this around. He has not played well this year, and I’m sure teams have taken notice. I doubt the penguins would really get much of anything for him right now, unless retaining 50%.

This league with covid and stagnant cap, has turned into what have you done lately league. Malkin was a stud in his prime, but he looks so out of sorts this year.

The real question is, if malkin were put on waivers today, would teams scramble to make the cap space to pick him up? I’m not so sure.

On the Colorado trade, it could either be big retention or moderate retention with Compher also included. Might need to slightly rework the trade in the latter case but certainly doable.
