Sakic hasn't traded a 1st in his tenure as GM, hes not going to trade 1st top prospects and good roster players in season for Crosby....Plus Crosby has a NMC, he will hand pick whatever team he wants to go to win, he isnt going to force himself onto. team and kill their depth and cap space making it impossible to win.

avs do not have the room for him, and nor do they need him to go for it. Why would sakic tear down a huge portion of what he built that is a legit wagon of a team in his first year of its cup window now just to completely shorten its ability to compete.

Its not that simple as just give them EJ and Donskoi....they arent making EJ waive his NMC to trade him to a team that will be rebuilding, and why would the Pens want Donskoi?

I agree that it won’t happen because he literally just put those rumors to rest when asked about it by answering he is playing his career in Pittsburgh and retiring here, but Montreal and Colorado are the two teams that he’d accept a trade to if he were to change his mind. Montreal because it’s his boyhood team that his dad played for. Colorado because his bff plays for Colorado. If the pens trade Crosby, then they would go for a rebuild so they would likely retain half his cap hit to get a bigger haul.
It would be dumb for any team to trade for him realistically because they’d have to blow up their whole team and/or farm system to get him.

thats the only way to get the most out of him if he hand picks the team he wants to play for, Pens will have to eat a decent chunk of his contract so that team will be competitive as long as they can...If they are trading Crosby its just as much as doing right be him vs the team trying to sell him off for a kings ransom to rebuild.

Penguins would do whatever they can to make sure they get the pieces they want to rebuild while making sure Crosby has chances for multiple cups again working with the team that he wants to play for.

That's the biggest thing: even if you get Crosby, removing that many roster players actually makes the team worse. Crosby still has some good hockey left in him but they still would need to surround he and Mac with depth and that would be gone in a deal like this.
