Pittsburgh trade makes no sense for Pittsburgh. Bones would be a nice add if he comes cheaper. Ceci has been great this season and picks for this team are at a premium rn with Hextall being named the new GM. Cole, while great in Pittsburgh in his time here, was not a player that Sullivan seemed to like at the end so adding him back doesnt make sense. Also the pens have 5 nhl caliber LD.

My only beef with this is you reading nick bjustad and Ryan Hartman together. Hartman can get an easily 2nd & prospect. Or just 2nd. Also nick bjustad has been average to really good other games. There's no reason to be trading him or adding him to Hartman trade.

    Stepan, Derek ($2,000,000 retained)
    Additional Details:
Johansson for Stepan is to help Stepan out - Ottawa gains pick for the cap retention on Stepan, MN takes on Stepan full salary (2M) and tryout for contract next year. Ottawa immediately flips Johansson to team in US to avoid quarantine and gain more picks.
    Johansson flip for a 2021 3rd.
    OTT
    Johansson, Marcus
    2022 6th round pick (MIN)
    Additional Details:
MIN - takes on full Stepan salary ($2M). 2022 MIN 6th for Ottawa ($2M) cap retention

That's not how it works, the retained money is a %, so if Ottawa retains $2MM, that's 31%, which is $2MM of $6.5MM, so they also retain however many days are left of the salary of $615,384

If your plan is to flip Johansson, then do the work, make this a 3 team trade. Really irritating when people say, "just flip him", like that's just going to happen...

Why is Minnesota paying to get a guy like Stepan if we are selling everywhere else? Getting Stepan only makes sense if Wild want to try to go on a run in the playoffs.

Is there quarantine issues if traded within the countries? I think if a US based team to US based team, there’s no quarantine. (I could be mistaken though)

Because some guy asked Russo in his Q&A if Stepan was on Guerin's radar. Russo said he might be. Wild fans are obsessed with centers no matter how bad they are, and the fact that he's from Minnesota just adds more fuel.

In reality, it makes zero sense to acquire Stepan mid-season, unless we're acquiring more draft picks or prospects along with him. If Guerin really wants Stepan here for "culture" or whatever, he can sign him this summer without giving up anything for it.

These are all nonsensical trades. You’re all over the place with these...you just threw these together without thinking them through.

That trade is terrible for the Pens. They don't have a real need for Bonino or Cole, they have a surplus of defence as it stands now.

Even if the Pens needed them, they wouldn't be worth a 1st and a 2nd.

Yes. When we traded Pateryn for Cole, the only reason they were both allowed to skip quarantine was because they were able to travel by car between LA (where we were) and Anaheim (where Colorado was). If any air travel was involved (or possibly even just a long enough car ride that they needed to make gas/bathroom stops), they would have needed to quarantine according to Michael Russo.

The quarantine would be less severe than the 14 days needed if you cross the border, but even a week would still suck in a shortened season.
